I’m also an Isles fan. I think they should make the blue fisherman jersey as a throwback jersey and treat it like the Canes treat their Whalers jerseys. They should take the numbers and names on the home jerseys and make the orange and then flip the orange and blue on the current alternate jersey (make it an orange jersey).

I do have the Islanders orange jersey, the Navy Blue Reebok jersey, the home Adidas royal blue jersey and the reverse retro jersey and I did like the fishermen Islanders jersey with the fishermen logo on the front not so much with the original Islanders logo on the jersey.

Am I the only one who thinks their current home and away are by far their best jerseys ever? Especially with that lighter blue. It sure helps that I think their logo is borderline best ever as far as I am concerned. I don't even mind the fisherman, but I just love their Islanders look too much to ever want the fisherman outside of a possible alternate.

THANK YOU!!! As an Isles fan, we have a great team now. We just went to back to back ECF, we have the best coach in the league, back to back GM of the year, a new arena, great owners. Isles fan here. I think that black jersey with the number on the front would’ve looked sick with a black version of their logo on it instead. Also if there’s ever a time to bring back the fisherman jersey it should be now, when they’re one of the best teams in the whole league. Imagine them winning the cup wearing the fisherman jersey lol

i love the fisherman jersey in general. if they took out the grey stripe, tamed the waves a bit, and made the letters straight/non-goofy font, i'd be all about it. the recent reverse retro was a good start, but needs that teal

I own the black one (with Kyle Okposo a sad trend of get players who left the following seasons). It was on the cheap. But is just so boring. Maybe if the lines on the sleeves were bolder or something.

The Fisherman Jersey and the All Black jersey are the worst in the teams history. The classic Blue, Orange and White are such a classic jersey, the darker Blue 3rd jersey last year was also incredible.

Isles fan here. Great video! I was a kid in the 90’s and remembered the hate the fisherman got. I think the hate was justified but misguided. Had the fisherman been an alternate no one would have made a big deal about it. The fanbase was probably largely upset because of a rebrand on a team that was ten years removed of 4 consecutive cups. The thought was the team and logo will be cemented in history because of the incredible run in the 80’s and now they’re taking it away. Could you imagine the habs in the 80’s saying “hey, we’re changing our logo”. The history of both teams aren’t identical but there is significant history nonetheless. I would embrace the fisherman as an alternate today and gladly wear it as a badge of honor. You mentioned the isles needing to update their look and I’ll respectfully disagree with you on that. Circling back to my previous point, when you think of historic teams like the habs, red wings, etc. no one can even imagine their uniforms changing. To change those jerseys is not even up for debate. The islanders aren’t an original 6 team but I think based on their past have earned the right to be credited as one of these historic franchises. With that said, IMO there’s no need to change or mess with their look. Change alternates, reverse retro’s, outdoor games? Sure, go crazy, but not the home and aways. I sincerely think the league should have new alternate jerseys every year and recycle popular ones years down the road.

@@wantutosigh1117 oh yeah, I agree. I was too young to remember but in pictures and videos the early 90’s colors on the jerseys popped so nice. For whatever reason the blue was like a bright royal and the orange was so bright it was almost neon. I don’t know if it’s just me or advancements in photography but compare the 80’s colors vs the early 90’s colors vs today’s colors.

Yea that 2011 alternate was fucking garbage. As a NYR fan u no i hate the isles but gotta respect Ledecky for saving this franchise. After they left the Coli & went to BK who knows if they relocate or whatever. Prefer the darker blue like on retro over the vibrant blue. Most slept on is easily that SS14 one when they played us at Yankee Stadium.

Would love to see the fisherman jersey with the normal logo return. I like the design of the jersey but I think the logo is too corny and ugly. Fortunately I wasn’t born until 02 so I don’t remember or associate with the millbury era, I only experienced the metaphorical apocalyptic fallout of his tenure 🙃. It took 19 yrs and my favorite isle breaking my heart to be a respectable team but we’re here and it’s a perfect time to bring these back. Heard they we for next years reverse retro but idk it’s confirmed or a rumor.
