When you think of 90s NBA basketball, it’s all about toughness, trash talk, and lockdown defense. With that kind of intensity, brawls were bound to happen, and no rivalry brought more heat than Knicks vs. Heat. These two squads faced off in the playoffs four straight times from 1997 to 2000, with the Knicks winning three of those series and the Heat taking one. It may not have lasted long, but it gave us some unforgettable moments-like the iconic P.J. Brown and Charlie Ward brawl.
The rivalry had even more fire because of Pat Riley, the central figure who coached both teams-the Knicks in the early 90s and the Heat in the late 90s. Then there was the personal drama between Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning. Once teammates in Charlotte, their beef carried over into these battles, making the games even more intense.
