As sad as Knicks fan were that we got rid of Barrett and Quickley, I believe it made us a better team. Barrett was too inconsistent. He could drop 30 one game and score 11 the next game. Quickley wanted to get paid and more playing time. Call me crazy but I think the Knicks are just one more offensive wing away from being a decent contender

yeah it was the correct trade. much better personnel and chemistry now! no roles are really overlapping now. OG has much better IQ and consistency. thats already a huge upgrade from RJ / Quickley combined lol. but RJ and Quickley have good chance to thrive in toronto too

Randle is always good in the regular season but terrible in the playoffs

Observe how the NYK are being built. They cleared cap space, stockpiled draft picks, developed and evaluated them, then traded some who either were not NBA material (Frank Ntilikina) or weren't down with the program (Porzingis). Over time they've made decisions like removing players like Rose and Fournier from the rotation. Then they've quietly made key signings like Hartenstein, DiVincenzo, Brunson, etc. Until the OG trade this group of players were not playing good defense, were not moving without the ball, were not passing the ball (very low assists), and at least for one game it seems they've woken up on D and ball movement. It's wonderful to see. RJ may well be what he is but I think IQ still has a wide open road of potential improvement. All in all they are making intelligent and calculated moves that I hope will build a championship team. I became a NYK fan in 1973 at age 10 with that lineup of HOF-ers who all had one goal in mind. To win!

Too right. This move certainly stung at first and it's easy to hold fear over mismanagement from past knicks front offices, though taking a real step back from the point of leon rose + thibs onwards. It's hard not to step back and acknowledge that while every move has not been perfect, knicks have been patient and calculated with every move, with a bit of luck getting JB. Only one game, but there was a lot of refreshing elements about watching this game, the timing of this trade felt perfect and at first glance it feels like everything this team has been needing. One step closer.

Yeh he was an absolute monster, best defensive game of his career. I feel vindicated because I was the ONLY human being on planet earth who preferred him over Mitchel Robinson. And to be honest I feel like he's been better, especially from the free throw line, less athletic but I think he provides more in terms of winning a basketball game. Maybe that's total delusion but we'll see if and when the knicks get to the post season.

Robinson is this uber athletic rimrunner, while Hartenstein is a clever playmaker out of the high post, who will also throw down a lob or put back from time to time. Imo Hartenstein is the best backup center in the league, although I admit I am wearing rose tinted glasses on that one, being first of all a Knicks fan and second of all a German, like IHart.

1:45 they need to start calling some of these step through moves as travels. Any gathers with his right down (gather step) Steps with his left (pivot). Then his right (free foot). Then lifts his left (pivot) and puts it down before he shoots. I use the step through, the key to it being legal is stepping through with your free foot, not your pivot. Wonder why players score so much? This is one of the many reasons, they are allowed to travel and that’s even with a gather step considered. Ant ain’t the only one, Shai and Lebron are also big offenders.
