The whole team honestly just didn't let Mavs have any breathing space at all. Mavs couldn't find open shots, so everything they were doing was contested. Almost any NBA team will struggle offensively in that situation. Mavs are a really good team, but clearly need more depth to get the ball spread around more. It's too easy when you know there's only two real scorers. That got them by pretty far, but the 'do it all' Celtics were exactly the team that was gonna be able to stop that.

Was someone barring the other teams from doing the same? Honestly, if you've managed to build a superteam that destroys the conference and then cruises through the play-offs, you're doing something right.

@@Especti1 It's only a superteam anyway because of their efficiency. Hell, their starting players are one of the most efficient individuals in the league. But if you're talking LeBron or KD level of superteam then it's far too different to even compare. Though I agree with you about the management doing it right. Franchises these days are going after big name superstars and overlooking consistent players that plays in any circumstance. Like Derrick White for example or Jrue Holiday. Brad Stevens fleeced the league.

Everything was revealed in these finals: Luka's defence is a weakness that puts a ceiling on his teams success. Tatum is not a top five player. Kyrie may be gifted but he is not as good as his loyal fans think he is. Holiday is the most underrated player in the league. If your count on a rookie to be the anchor of your defense, your probably not winning.

Luka's defense is a slight weakness, but to say it puts a ceiling on his teams success is ridiculous cause he has gone through stretches in the playoffs where his defense was great... I have watched Curry win 4 rings in the last 10 years and he is a far worse defender than Luka so how did that work out? The Mavs just need to add a few more pieces and continue where they left off in the second half of the season 🤷‍♂️

Putting the defeat on Luka's lack of defense(when he played ok defense) is pretty weak compared to the clear other differences between Mavs and Celtics. Celtics have 5+ people who can go off for 20+ in basically any given game AND all play at least ok defense, for instance. That is just incredibly hard to stop for anybody and not something you see very often. Boston should have always been favorites for the Finals, but especially against a team with only two hot scorers. Truth is, a team like Denver probably would have been a harder matchup for Boston.

@@maynardburger Denver would have been the tougher matchup, but it would have taken some heroics from Jokic to have a chance cause similar to Kyrie, Jrue and White would have done a good job at neutralizing Murray and then it would come down to MPJ, KCP and AG… if they hit their shots then they are tough to stop, but if they play like game 7 against Minnesota, then they are just as helpless as the Mavs
