Thanks for sharing! I have had similar experiences with broadcasting and not getting the results you want.

On that triangle that had corn in corn. He had to be pumping the nitrogen to grow that corn. I’m wondering if that impacted the ph more than just the tillage?
@GrowingDeerTV2 ай бұрын
He didn't have test just for that area.

@@GrowingDeerTV Yeah he did he said it was 5.2. The nitrogen inputs is exactly why the pH was low, not tillage.

What species did you plant in the old corn plot with the ph of 5.2 that made the ph better? Thanks for all the helpful info

Blends helps pH more than any single species. Allow a blend to grow will improve the pH. How much it helps depends on many variables.

I have used fall broadcasting successfully, the important step is something like a harrow or even a hand rake to get seed to soil contact. Drill if you have it! The next method is more Fukuoka One Straw Revolution is to encase broadcast seed in clay pellets as a single pass.

Can you buy commercial seed that is coated for food plots? Examples?

Can you share Corey's fall 6-seed blend that also provides some Spring emergent? Thank you.
@GrowingDeerTV2 ай бұрын
That's Corey's private recipe for his property in New York. It's very close to the Green Cover blend.

Did he drag or cultipack the field after broadcasting?
@GrowingDeerTV2 ай бұрын
No - broadcast just before a rain

@@GrowingDeerTV Seems like there was more involved that lead to the stand failure. People broadcast after disking every year and don't see this in replication.

I’ve been experimenting with seed blends and being on my 3rd planting of failed broadcasting, I’m at a loss what to do. It seems certain seeds do well broadcasting while others do not.
@GrowingDeerTV2 ай бұрын
It's very important that the seeds make good contact with the soil. This is often easier for the smaller sized seeds than large ones. Are you broadcasting into a standing crop, bare ground, etc.?
@runtimmytimer2 ай бұрын
@@GrowingDeerTV Standing crop. Typically, I'll spread seed then run over with a culti-packer and spray glyphosate to terminate the prior crop since I don't have access to a crimper. This spring it's been very wet so it's not for the lack of moisture.

Well, I dont have a drill

There are several videos on our channel about using hand tools! I flagged out a new hidey hole plot at my place today. We'll create and plant it with hand tools.
