I can't believe people are still having doubts about Peter's Doctor. He himself loves Doctor Who so much! And quite honestly, If there was anyone that you would want to represent the franchise then I think Peter would be the right choice. We should trust him because he's a fan himself. We've all had plenty of opportunities to see that, especially in this right here.

This happens every time there's a new doctor. People said that there was no way that Tennant could be as good as Eccleston, and that Smith was absolutely going to suck because he wasn't DT. I'm sure that back in '74, people were saying "Tom Baker? What the hell are they _thinking_?"

I'm very excited to see what Capaldi brings to The Doctor! People are all worried about him but remember the last time we had a Doctor who was a long-time fan of the show? That's right, it was David and he is probably the most popular Doctor!

Thepineapplemonk That would have been rather impossible, don't you think, unless he actually had means of time travel... Tom was born in 1934, so he was 29 when the show started - at which time I'm sure he had other concerns, than watching a kids' show... Didn't stop him being a great Doctor, as far as I've heard. Peter C., on the other hand, is probably the only one of the set (Classic and New) who actually could watch from the first episode of the original run (not the later repeats) - he was six when it started.

I'm not worried in the least. Peter is an old school fan that watched the show from the very beginning. He knows the show and how the doctor should be projected. You won't hear Capaldi saying "Who da man", that's for sure. And Tom Baker rarely watched the show before he became the doctor and personally I consider him to be the best ever. Crossing generations, he is more popular than Tennant too. Anyway, Capaldi is bringing back many of the classic Who fans and I feel he's going to be very successful. He doesn't have to worry about typecasting at this point in his career either, so I can see him being a long-term doctor. I must say that I haven't been this excited for Doctor Who in a very long time.

You know ever since I became a doctor Who fan I always see people saying they want this doctor or that doctor back but if you don't take change well why do you watch Doctor Who? Whether it's the doctor himself his companions or the tone of the show it never stays the same for long. So there's no point in bashing it when it changes up. the show's been around for 50 years it wouldn't have made it to this point if the show didn't change things up

Better late than never to tell this story. I asked the question of how it felt for Peter to be the doctor after he was in "The Fires of Pompeii". And In the biggest freudian slip of my life instead of calling him Caecilius, I called him Ceaser. Let's just say the audience tore me a new one. To the point that Chris Hardwick interjected and said something along the lines of "He's gonna remember this for the rest of his life now". I should've just stopped talking by then but for some reason I buried myself a deeper hole by asking for a selfie (first to admit it was a terrible idea, wanted to break the tension but that failed so hard). Peter jokingly admonished me. I learned two things that night, confidence is a double edge sword, and just keep my mouth shut.

Great interview...up until the selfie. You're all on camera, with infinitely better image capturing devices than any cell phone, and you feel the urge to "take a selfie" because you think "all the kids are doing that, and it'll look totally cool, right?!" Wrong. It looks idiotic when you do it while being professionally filmed. The interviewees were great, though!
