Used to work in an office right next to the greenvale station on plaza road. It’s in the middle of a very expensive neighborhood and it makes sense why it would be so infrequent.

Weird seats for a commuter train. The leatherette looks so 70s too. It's time Stadler and Siemens make an impact on US rolling stock.

these cars were custom-built for the LIRR, and they have been a headache for them operationally. iirc the LIRR is getting new siemens chargers at some point soon tho

Why are you taking the PW line of you're doing to Greenvale? You should've just taken the oyster bay branch. It's right after Roslyn

I'm surprised Greenvale qualifies as a least used station, especially considering that it's the closest station to the CW Post Campus at LIU. But when you think about it, it actually kind of makes sense since Oyster Bay Branch service is relatively less frequent compared to service on other branches. Not gonna lie, though, the stuff in that bakery in Greenvale looks amazing!

yep, as I mentioned, Greenvale, West, Hempstead, and Hempstead Gardens are all pretty low used and this year Greenvale edged the other two out

Decades ago, the station was known as "Greenvale / C. W. Post College" but since about 1970, the college has run shuttle buses to the busier Hicksville railroad station and the regional shopping center close to that station.

120 years ago, Long Island was largely wilderness. The little cities in the middle of Illinois, where I grew up, were well-established by then… and were developing streetcars and pretty good interurban electric rail. But the streetcars and interurbans were all gone by 1960. Things change.
@RonGerstein4 ай бұрын
@markiangooley The difference branches of the LIRR were originally separate railroads, but the LIRR bought these railroads and integrated them into its track lines.

Just wanted to offer some constructive criticism: You should maybe consider dubbing over your footage in post-production/editing. There was a lot of flubbing and stuttering that lowers the production value. Also, you can maybe consider a better camera/less shaking. Keep up the good work though. You are young and are already willing to make content for us random people here on the internet.

My wife and I wnated to buy a house because we needed space. We work in Manhattan. We considered NJ, as there's tons of transit there. We considered, and ended up choosing, Yonkers, because we can walk to the Metro North and it's reliable, and there are actual sidewalks and lots of buses too. We drive but we do plenty of walking. We considered Long Island for about one second then immediately laughed and said, absolutely not.

The island called Long Island includes on its western end BROOKLYN and QUEENS, part of NEW YORK CITY. So are you saying Brooklyn and Queens are boring? The western part of Long Island that is not part of NEW YORK CITY is Nassau County, and it has Jones Beach as a popular destination. The eastern end of Long Island is Suffolk County, and the Hamptons are located there, where the rich people stay in the summer. SO LONG ISLAND IS NOT BORING.
@honajtransit4 ай бұрын
@Neville60001 i guess long island might maybe have some cool bits, but overall it really is quite boring (and boring areas separate the cool bits!)
@honajtransit4 ай бұрын
@RonGerstein long island the island includes brooklyn and queens, yes, but 99% of the time “long island” refers to nassau and suffolk counties, both of which are almost entirely boring suburbia - yes there are *some* cool areas but they are few and far between
