New York to Florida: Making the Move

Just reminded me why I'm starting to hate NY. Increase taxes and declining living conditions. I'm thinking about a move to Florida one day. Have a good job so thats whats stopping me. Maybe when I retire which I'm not even close to doing yet. I pay 9,000 in both NYC and NY state in taxes. Depressing.

Make sure when you move to Florida, leave your nasty, pompous attitudes back in New York. New Yorkers are hated especially in Florida for those reasons.

I’ve definitely have heard both sides. Some are happy and some are not. But it also depends what part of Fl people choose to live in and if it met what they expected.

We are moving to Flordia after my son finishes this school year we figured we would rent for 6 months while we are finding and closing on a home we live in rochester ny thats upstate we will have to sell our property be4 we travel we are looking in the palm harbor area any tips ar advice thanks again Michael Giordano # sick of N.Y

Florida used to be inexpensive compared to NY. I moved to Florida from NY in 2022. I’ve been researching the cost of living in Florida to NY and they are really close in cost. Florida just has more land for your money. Florida’s cost of living is high and salaries are very low which makes it a struggle. I’ve always loved Florida since I was a child. I m most attracted to the warm weather and beautiful scenery. I’m trying not to regret making this move.

I live on long island. My brother lives in Tampa. Is Facebook marketplace a good site to find places to rent? I can't afford a house there. Thinking about moving in Pinellas county. Tarpon springs or dunedin. How is the job market there? Thanks, Tim in NY 😉

Hey Tim. There are some good finds for rentals on FB market place. Use some caution because there some scammers. There is also a Legit rent to own program that I recommend called Landis. Look them up and let me know if you run into questions.
