Moved to Vegas 3 years ago from Seattle and literally the only food missing is Seattle teriyaki. They have a chain called teriyaki madness but it's not good. Huge opportunity here in summerlin and also Asia town which is basically 3 miles of businesses on spring mountain road

Having lived in Manhattan, gone to school in Chicago, and traveled the world, spending time in Italy there is no bloody way that this oily crust with weird toppings town ranks..... dare I say it is why why I have taught myself to make my own cast iron deep dish cornbread crust pizza.

Here’s the deal. NYC has nearly 2,000 pizza places, Seattle has like 40. Last time I was in New York I had 5 pizza spots, all of them were really good. Big Mario’s is better. Even Pagliacci is better than most I’ve had. Hot Mamas and Ian’s on Cap Hill is money, Pizza Coop in Woodinville… there are a lot of really solid spots in Seattle. I think outsiders don’t realize how huge Pizza by the slice is here. In general though, the sheer quantity of NYC makes it a better pizza city.

I've lived in Kitsap County for the past 35 years. Our pizza here sucks and is ok at best. My sister moved to West Seattle years ago and during some of my visits we've gone out to some of the local pizza places she's found and damn they've got some great pizza there. I don't know if it's best in the country good but they're pretty damn good in my book.

New York style pizza has the same problem as Philly cheese steaks in Philidelphia. Most places/chains make the same cheap garbage over and over and rely on it being "Authentic" as a selling point. If you want quality you need to leave the beaten past and find those that innovate and improve those authentic recipes. And use quality ingredients. Not the same cheap garbage as the guy next door.

I would say that seattle has a couple stores few and far between that can match new yorks best, but the average of all of them? No way. We've got some CRAZY deepdish and thick crust pizzas, we especially do white sauce pizzas really well, but the average seattle neapolitan, new york style or chicago, dont even come close to the average place on the west coast.

Eh...not so much. We do have some great pizza spots (Big Mario's and Hot Mama's for NY style and Windy City for Chicago and Detroit style) but I of say the average pizza spot is...average. NY and Detroit are personal favorites and you have to go there for the best best of those.

Pure garbage. I grew up in NY. I eat cheese pizza when in NY. Why? Because it is better than pepperoni; good cheese pizza is. That's what a 'Slice' is. I tested it in NY years ago. I like cheese pizza there better thant pepperoni pizza. The cheese pizza (at good places) is to die for. Watch Dave Portnoy's reviews. He shows you what real pizza is. Most pizza in WA is what I call SCHLOCK as are many foods int the Seattle area. Seafood is great here as is Thai, but so much else is mediocre looks-like food. A friend and I have gone out to many pizza places here and although we can like several Seattle pizzas - the good places - they are nothing like NY. And if there were any, they would probably charge you $8/slice as everything is way overpriced here. I once got pizza in the NY Subway system, a big slice for the money, and it was better than pizzas I had tired in Seattle, even places wth New York' or 'Brooklyn' in their names.
