I do wonder why the millions put into research conclude that the target audience want to smell like soap, especially for that price. Does it become a moment of trying to elevate it, make soap a more luxurious item than is typical? I suppose in many respects, it is already a thing of luxury. Great review!

It is interesting.. I think out of the shower style fragrances have been popular for a long time, this takes that shower gel vibe as the top note and then gives it a soapy dry down

Sauvage edt blue de Chanel and Dylan blue (shower gel) are massively popular… but so are frags like Prada lomme Luna rossa carbon and grey vetiver (clean / soapy). This might be an attempt at combining good things to make a great? thing. Lol

I don't think that actually millions are spent on that kind of research. They will just put together some relatively small test groups and show some samples of fragrances or maybe even accords they use. The rest is just following the trends, before another brand happens to have the new big thing when they try to come up with something new once in a while.

I am a fellow fragrance enthusiast with a decent collection. I do see a use for a fragrance like YSL MYSLF as it sounds to be versatile, non offensive and clean. At times you just want to smell pleasant for yourself or those around you. Cheers all.

I do love some of the YSL classics, but have absolutely no excitement for any of the more modern releases of the last 15 to 20 years......thank you for the review though Peter, much appreciated 👍

I smelled this recently… it’s bright and floral kind of. It is pretty “safe”. People who watch these videos say “why would the company make something so generic?”. That comes from the perspective of someone with a lot of fragrances who has also smelled a lot of fragrances. I could see someone who wants one dumb reach being very happy with this.

Strangely, I think there is a market for a 'boring, safe' fragrance..... I'm thinking this is made for a person who is young and doesn't actually know what they like, or what they don't like yet, but what they do know is they want to smell good, they want to smell 'safe' and not draw any criticism because they lack confidence. The bottle is a winner, and would help sell it to that young man. And a major French Beauty House adds to the 'safe' feeling. It's unlikely their customer will be interested in purchasing this a second time though, once it is used up, which means YSL will have to keep advertising it to get new consumers.

"Not unpleasant" is like a 5 star review these days. 😆 But a very unbiased take Peter. I don't think I would've had the composure. In fact, mine probably would have included more screaming and a hammer. Along with a cease and desist letter from L'Oreal. 😂 I will say that I like the bottle though. Unfortunately, the creativity of the perfume just doesn't measure up.

I blind bought this after a few drinks, so I plead impaired judgement. They sent a sample with it so the box remains unopened, which hopefully makes it returnable. It is the very definition of generic, IMHO.

What the hell happened to men's designer EDT's? Why do they all smell the same? This wasn't the case when I got into fragrances in the 90's... or at least my nose was still young enough to smell the differences from one to the next. You'd think at this point if a men's designer fragrance wanted to jump off the shelves... they'd make it not smell like the rest! No more Sauvage. No more Aventus. No more barbershop smells, give men something interesting for a change, it seriously can't be that hard.

It seems like most will try to follow the trend, for as long as possible.. and it's rare for a break away standout to go against a trend, to try to create a new trend.. but once one does happen, and it reaches some success, then people switch over and copy the new idea

It's a shame the market keeps bringing this scent to the table... I'm not one to want to change a man, but boy he needs some help if he's stuck on 90's Lynx or Axe scents. Get it together, man 😅... you can where fresh and soapy without smelling like a $7 can of boy spray.
