Well, we have good weather across in most of the area here in NZ, summer is on its way!
From the last video I posted around 2 weeks ago, and I mentioned I relocated this little nuc with the supercedure cell to another site (preferably more than 5km away from the original site) for her mating flight, and due to busy work schedule, I have not got any spare time lately to come check this nuc for about nearly 3 weeks since split.
Now, we are here to witness the most exciting moment, initially this nuc is packed with bees and I struggle a bit to spot her, but then again we are so lucky to see her in action (laying)!
NUC setup - my ideal way to make a split
1) 3 capped brood frame, 1 honey/pollen frame, 1 empty drawn out frame (for bees movement and ventilation purpose)
2) 2 capped brood frame, 1 with just eggs and grubs frame (newly mated queen would learn from experience on laying), 1 honey/pollen frame, 1 empty drawn out frame.
Well, next step is to take this nuc away again back into the farm for settling down before re-home them to bigger hive.
Thanks for watching guys!
