Hijacking your comment for a sec to show someone that commented farther down that most of us natives do not mind people using the term Indian. Most of us use it to refer to ourselves all the time. Again, we know it can be used derogatorily, but that's not what these folks or the letter writter are doing. Ok, sorry to use your comment as a soapbox brother, I'm done. - Mohawk Indian and NZ family fan.

Jerry, as a retired Marine I can tell you that the fouled rope and anchor came from our service aboard ship since 1776. Honestly, it's nice to see politicians & political figures on both sides of the political spectrum here in the US, actually agree on one thing. Among all things, it's a KZbin channel about a New Zealand family just being really heartwarming. Seriously, this is just an overall very special video. From a governor of a state (Georgia), mayor of a major city (Atlanta), a book on US state flags, and to have 5 new states represented with gifts.

It's a massive honor to possess a flag that was flown in our Capital. There are only a very few select ways that American citizens can accomplish this. United States Congressmen and Senators can make it happen faster but honestly I've never heard of an American flag being flown in our Capital for the purpose of being sent to folks like y'all so fast!! Pretty sure every state has a Flag Purchase program where residents of that state can order flags from. On the order form you select from available dates of when it will be flown over the U.S. Capitol and it will be shipped with a certificate with the name(s) or organization for whom it was flown. The delivery time for most states is around 8 to 10 weeks.

Latin for “Always Faithful,” is the motto of every Marine-an eternal and collective commitment to the success of our battles, the progress of our Nation, and the steadfast loyalty to the fellow Marines we fight alongside. The top brass from the Army, Navy and Marine Corps were arguing about who had the bravest troops. They decided to settle the dispute using an enlisted man from each branch. The army general called a private over and ordered him to climb to the top of the base flagpole, then let go with both hands and salute. The private quickly complied. Next, the admiral ordered a sailor to climb the pole, polish the brass knob at the top, salute smartly and jump off. The sailor did as he was told and landed on the concrete below. Finally, the marine was told to do exactly the same as the army and navy men but in full battle gear, pack filled with brick and loaded weapon carried high. He took one look at the major general and said: "You're out of your mind, sir." The marine commander turned to the others and said: "Now that's guts!"

This is the kind of family and the kind of thing the Internet is meant for. NZ is so far away. I've visited once. If I ever get the chance to escape this American life, New Zealand will be where I end up. I'm so grateful that you guys are such awesome parents raising such awesome children. Blessings from Texas. ❤

I’m from the Atlanta area and seeing you get a letter from the Mayor from Atlanta and the Governor of Georgia is just amazing. Y’all are truly an amazing family and I’m glad y’all received those letters. I hope that the Mayor and Governor do watch y’all’s videos even though I know it is busy time for them this season. Georgia would definitely welcome y’all here, through the busiest airport in the world, to see our great state. I’m wanting to send a box to y’all in the future as I’m so grateful for each of y’all. Sam, your humor lights me up; Nadine, your loving and warm smile cheers me up; and Atlanta and Denzel, y’all are pure children that make me relive my childhood memories with your humor and laughs. I know that when I’m down I can always rely on my New Zealand family and I’m forever grateful for each of y’all for lightening my days. Hope to see y’all one day and to send a package out there to y’all one day! Much love! Side note, my parents were there at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and if they didn’t leave an hour earlier, they might have been there when the bombing took place. If you don’t know about the Olympic Bombing, you should definitely look it up. Also fun fact, where I grew up is where they held the Equestrian events for the Olympics, such a pretty park.

I'm from Rhode Island and we used to find arrow heads often. The state has towns named Pawtucket, Narragansett, and Misquamicut -- all native names. I believe my great, great grandmother was full blood Algonquin, so my family loved our native past. It was so nice seeing the Oklahoman flag honor their native heritage. ♥️

Your excitement over today's mail is infectious! What an honour to watch your family learn about America. It is nice to see things with fresh wonder. I am glad someone sent you the book "American Tall Tales" as it is folklore based off real people that formed our country. Daniel Boone lead a group through the "Smokey" Appalacian Mountains. In that group was my my GGG Grandfather and Grandmother. She was also the sister to John G Chapman, otherwise known as Johnny Appleseed. Later some of their children followed Boone on to Texas.

Semper Fidelis is Latin - "Always Faithful* “Once a Marine, always a Marine” is real and “Semper Fi” is the way they say that. It’s also a reminder of who came before us and how their actions and sacrifices are why the word “Marine” even means anything. I have many friends who are former soldiers and sailors. They are proud of their service and should be.

Yes, this is true. We Americans never use the term "Ex-Marine" The only way a Marine can have the title of US Marine taken away is to be dishonorably discharged from service.

@@maryannsarkady7950 you’ve been in the business a long time. Are you retired? I met my DH in 1976, married in 1977, and had our 1st child in 1978. I was a SAHM for 14 years. We moved to Edmonton, KY in 1988. I started working in October 1992 as a school Lunch Lady when OldestDD was 14, the twins were 10, and YoungestDD was 4. I have seen the oldest 6 grandchildren every school day from Preschool to 5th grade. OldestGrandson will graduate high school in 2026, youngestGranddaughter will be going to the middle school in August 2026. It will be a good time to retire. I will be 72. I’ve looked at the campus via Google maps on the satellite mode. It is certainly not the little state college anymore. I lived in Linden Hall for 3 years. (Oak, Linden, and Laurel Halls made kind of a U shape.) The building in gone, and the area is a parking lot now. Lots of opportunities and choices for young people. I am glad. Have you ever done the annual NJ Lighthouse Challenge? It is held in October. My sister and I did it in 2017. Each lighthouse is different, and has it’s own story. I think my favorite is East Point, weirdly enough it is west of Cape May.
