To Denz: I was about your age when my family visited New York (I’m from Georgia). The younger of my two older sisters and I went up the stairs to the top of the Statue of Liberty. It was even more bare and open then (1986). I was TERRIFIED and had to hold back from crying but the spiral staircase, once you’re on it, no way to go back down. So….knowing I HAD to commit and was stuck til the end was awful for me. I totally get it, lil bro. I’m so proud of you that you did! SO proud! You and I both got to be in the crown of Lady Liberty, despite our fears! Cheers to ya, man! 🙂

So great that you were able to visit it relatively easy.

I was about to leave so I came to the grand stairway to go down to the foyer . It was extremely noisy down below as though there were a lot of people down in the foyer talking and chatting. As I began to come down the stairway and looked down what I saw at the bottom was literally a thousand girls jam packed in the Foyer all talking and chatting. As I'm about halfway down the stairs SUDDENLY ALL AT ONCE ALL THE GIRLS STOPPED TALKING AND IT BEGAME INSTANTLY DEAD SILENT AS THEY ALL TURNED AT THE SAME TIME AND LOOKED UP AT ME THEN THEY JUST STARED AT ME AS I CAME DOWN THE STAIRWAY ! Upon getting to the bottom i had to walk through a sea of girls that were all staring at me . I did manage to get to the door and get outside without having to run or being torn apart.

I've been waiting for this video, I live in NYC. FAO Schwartz use to be next to where the Apple store is now. That's where it was when BIG was filmed and it was bigger at that location. Glad you had so much fun. As a New Yorker we are so use to all the lights and sounds that we know how to tune it all out. To a tourist I can see how overwhelming it all is.

Wow, I love your family. Oh my God. I don't think I'd ever have the chance to go to New York and I'm American! This video means so much to me. 🥰 I will forever and ever be grateful to New Yorkers for how they handled 9-11. And I would never, ever be able to see New York as a tourist through your lense. Thank you so much for sharing. So beautiful. 🌺💐🌇🏙🌆🗽💖💞💝😍

If the kids like squirrels you should show them some of Central NY where 10% of the squirrels are melanistic meaning they produce extra melanin making their coats entirely black. I went to school out there and even as someone who has seen squirrels their whole life I was enamored with the melanistic squirrels and always got so excited when I would see one, or especially when one would come up to me curiously.

I grew up in NJ and spent much of my youth going to NYC for punk and hardcore shows all over the city and of course plenty of random journeys through Manhattan over decades of time. It's easy for the City to become less magical and become just another place you're so used to that it's not a big deal anymore. I say this because watching videos like this where we get to see people like yourselves experience it for the first time and get to feel that "wow" factor and the whirlwind of being in that environment is so good for the soul. It helps someone like myself appreciate a lot of what I may have become jaded to and it puts a smile on my face. Glad to see you all have so much fun in the Big Apple!

But Christmas also brings those insane crowds. So it's actually better that they went when they did. If they went at Christmas time, I don't even know if Nadine would be able to see people skating, because it's hard to even get close. Everyone is there for the tree, the skating , and Saint Patrick's.
