Route may change in future. Also, be extremely mindful on reduced speed limits, including temporary ones. Do not drive beyond the speed limit because of the vehicles behind you. If you go beyond 35kmph in a 30 zone for 5 seconds, technically you are speeding, which is an immediate failure as I can remember. So don't get pressured into breaking speed limits. Good luck! 🙂

@Jeshky20045 ай бұрын
Have they changed the process? To me this just looks like a restricted drivers test minus the parallel parking. The full license is supposed to include pointing out hazards, as in people crossing the road, cars sticking out, etc. Maybe they're just more strict up north or something.
@Zealandiah5 ай бұрын
Hi. Yeah usually identifying hazards is a part of full license test. But in overseas license conversions, mostly they don’t do that. I may be wrong but what I think the reason for that is, the test takers already have a full license, even though it’s not from Nz. Once they do the theory test, they do get a full Nz license(green one), but with a supervisor condition. So it’s not like a restricted license holder taking the test to become a full license holder. The language barrier might also be playing a part. Since it’s a test, mostly applicants are a bit nervous already, and if they are not native english speakers, they may have a hard time describing the hazards, even though they may recognize them properly. So I think all these things play a part in examiners not expecting it in overseas conventions tests. But, like I mentioned, this is all just speculations. I may be way off. 😄 So it’s always better to be ready for any challenge they throw at your direction.

Hello there, :)) how long did you have to wait to book the appointment? I've heard people is waiting for months, did you take a supervisor with you to do the test? Cheers and thanks so much for sharing.
@Zealandiah6 ай бұрын
Hey :) My initial booking was about 3 to 4 months in advance. However I constantly checked and then could change it to like few weeks ahead. Initially I was focusing on one test center but had to look for other places as well. Drove 1h in the morning for 8am test but they had postponed it :D So I checked then and there and got a slot at New Lynn the same day at 11am. Try around 6-10 in the morning to change your appointment, you might get lucky. People who can’t make their sessions tend to cancel/reschedule their slots around this time. But don’t wait for an ideal time to book. First book the best option you have and check to reschedule for better times, else you will wait forever. I took someone with me just in case but they didn’t even ask whether I came with a supervisor. Good luck :)

Hi there, just wondering if you needed to reverse parallel park between two cars? Also will they do a complete check of your car before the test I.e checking tyres. Thanks!
@Zealandiah6 ай бұрын
Hey. There were no parallel park or three point turn in my overseas license conversion test. They are usually included in the restricted license testing, so I don't think anyone who does a full license test(overseas conversion or otherwise) doesn't have to do those. Yeah they check the condition of your car, like correct functioning of your headlights, signal lights, horn, wiper(if it's a rainy day), tire conditions etc. But it's not a very comprehensive check, so don't stress too much. If the vehicle is roadworthy, you should be fine. Also they may ask whether you know how to operate the front and back windscreen demisters(in the AC panel). So, be ready in case they ask. Good luck 🙂
@dave24-735 ай бұрын
You don’t usually parallel park between two cars, this is not normal, you may need to parallel park behind a single car, this is common.

they should make defensive driving compulsory for most people who IE have never sat behind the wheel before have never had the passion to drive and lacking self confidence! You know when someone's in need for more of the mentality side of driving control, self awareness but most of all under pressure in all types of situations thats a good confident driver i would always rely on
@Zealandiah4 ай бұрын
@@scorps-hl8ue Totally agree with you. Even for people with experience, that would be educational and refreshing even. I had many years of driving experience before Nz, but my whole perspective of a good driver got changed when I started driving here. Realized that speeding and knowing what your vehicle could really do in tight situations is NOT being a good driver. The general politeness and the way people drive here in Nz really inspire you to become a better driver. To a point where you think “what was I thinking” when you recall those undisciplined days and close calls. 😄 I think defensive driving should be a mindset, rather than just a term you talk about when you learn to drive. But improving general awareness and encouraging people towards it from the very beginning is a really good way to keep everyone safe and sound.

Hey mate! Did you bring some documents or just your local driver licence and your passport? Thanks!
@Zealandiah5 ай бұрын
Hey. By the time you face the practical test, you should have a NZ license with you. Since I did the theory test before and passed, they sent me a NZ full drivers license with a supervisor condition. I had to take that license with me, not the license from my home country. And since a Nz drivers license(even with a supervisor condition) is accepted as a valid photo ID(unless it’s a paper license), I don’t think you have to bring passport at all. But best to bring the passport as well to be on the safe side, since you don’t need an extra thing to worry about on the day of your test. 🙂

@@Wovel117 Hi. Not all the time though. The examiner didn’t ask me to turn off the dash cam in my test. Depends on the examiner I guess. If the dash cam records the interior(either audio or video), the examiner has the right to ask not to record. But if not, I’m not so sure.

Hi @Zealandia, I want to apply for overseas DL conversion. If I get restricted license after the theory test, how can I drive to Test center? do I have to bring someone or I just use my overseas DL? Many thanks 😀
@Zealandiah4 ай бұрын
@@SeadoooRider If you apply for the conversion and once you do the theory test, you will get a full license, but with a superior condition(not a restricted license). That means from that point onwards, you will have to use that license until you do the practical test and remove that supervisor condition. You legally cannot drive without a supervisor and you cannot use overseas license either. I know it makes no sense but that’s how it is 🙁 Because of that, it’s good if you can bring a supervisor with you when you go to the practical test. But to my experience, they didn’t check or ask even if I had a supervisor. Good luck 🙂

You have to keep checking your mirrors every single time like a paranoid person. That's the only way you can satisfy these instructors in the mirror aspect. Cos they are never satisfied with our mirror checking. Also you cheated using cruise control, that's why the speed stopped at 50 and fell. Why not 51 or 52? Hahaha
@ZealandiahАй бұрын
@@MichaelYapz If it was the case, you seriously think that the examiner won’t notice cruise control being on 😄 You cannot fool them like that mate. Well I failed the first time because I didn’t notice a temp 30kmph zone, so I was extra careful not to exceed any speed limits this time. And my car has a head up display so it’s easier to keep an eye on the speed without tilting the head up and down.
