Flyovers are viewed by the military as training missions. The Minnesota Air National Guard performed flyovers over several hospitals and cities when Quarantine first started. Pilots and crews have to train anyway. Why not make a spectacle out of them?

Many times in these fly-overs, you will notice that there is a space between planes where there is no plane. We call this the "missing man" which we honorifically designate for the soldier lost in war, unable to be there in person. A very high honor.

When I was in college at Colorado State University (Go Rams!), we had a flyover of three F-15s. The stadium, at that time, was on the small side, and was fairly close to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. I don't know if this is what factored into what happened but, when the flyover occurred, I and all the fans along the top rows went from around 30° F/-1° C to around 90°/32° (which then very quickly dropped back down to the original temperature) because the jet nozzles were pointed *right at us* as the pilots pulled up. We all just looked at each other and basically said, "Whoa! That was close!" What we'd missed, though (and I only heard about it later because a girl I was dating, who I later married, was on the field), was that the flyover's nearness took everyone by surprise; half the band ducked, and the band's "conductor" fell off a ladder (wasn't injured). All in all, an interesting day. Oh, and we lost...we always lost, in those days.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Way to go Courtney!!! The flyovers give me chills too. I served in the Navy for 6 years and experienced them all of the time and the power and roar of these machines will drop you to your knees. There is nothing like it. During a deployment to Central America we brought the presidents of Panama, El Salvador and Honduras aboard our ship (the USS Ranger CV-61) and put on a weapons display for them, to show them that we had their backs. We exploded small bombs, flew f-16's and S-3's anti-submarine aircraft in formations and seeing all of the American muscle was incredible. That was back in the 80's. Love seeing your genuine amazement at this awesome American tradition. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Since you made the comment about their timing, one thing you don't usually see on TV, even if they're showing the singer, is that the air unit doing the flyover will have an air controller on the ground right in front of the singer/band/whomever is playing. They're in radio contact with the flight and will direct the singer to speed up or stretch out to make sure the timing is just right so the planes come over right with the last notes. Obviously, it's not a perfect system, but for the most part, they get pretty damn close. The big flyover you had in here a few times, if I had to guess, the fireworks that went off were serving a similar purpose. With that many planes (and probably civilians, seeing the plane-types), it was a visual cue to start their run into the stadium.

If you ever get the chance, come to the United States and find an air show somewhere. I live in North Pole, Alaska and we had an airshow at the Air Force base near here. It was put on to welcome our F35s and seeing them in person is so much better than trying to hear them on TV. In person they vibrate your entire body and make you smile and cheer. A Blue Angels Airshow is the best kind because they do alot of tricks and maneuvers and scare the hell out of everyone. Because the Blue Angels fly in formation only inches apart from eachother. Or fly towards eachother and miss hitting together by inches too.

Fun fact.. The fly over pilots have a certain time to fly over. They usually get it down to the second. They are suppose to fly over right when our anthem ends. But the timing is usually good or bad depending on how accurate consistent the singer is. If its a Capella.

The first video of the five-video compilation was the 2005 Alabama vs. LSU game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. I was a freshman, and I was standing at the very top of the south end zone stands. I didn't know there was supposed to be a flyover, and right towards the end of the Anthem, someone said "I think there's supposed to be a flyover." I turned around to see if I could see anything coming and found myself staring straight at (felt like it at least) a KC-135 and two F-16s right damn in front of me. I ducked my head out of instinct and then whipped around to see them go overhead. You could feel the heat off the jet blast and the entire stadium was shaking. We all absolutely lost it because it was so awesome. From what I understand they all got reprimanded for violating the hard deck. 15 years later still the best flyover I've ever experienced.

I'm a Canadian and a great fan of the NFL. It's been my experience from watching games on TV that fly-overs are not an automatic part of the pre-game ceremonies. It depends on the importance or emotional significance involved with the game (eg Army-Navy games). NFL post season games, especially the Super Bowl, will have fly-overs. And I should mention here that the logistics of a fly-over are incredibly demanding. It takes great preparation to fly over the stadium at the exact moment that the national anthem ends, not a second before or after. And I agree with you. I get a rush when I see a dramatic fly-over and I must admit that a tear is not too far away from appearing, Personally, I like the jet fighters, the F15s, F16s F18s, F22s, F35s or the slower A10s. What a way to start a ball game! Concerning the two large fly-overs you showed, the angle of the wings on the aircraft (90 degrees to the fuselage) and the speed tells me that they were not jets. More likely propeller driven aircraft. No insult intended here but my personal preference is loud and fast.

Some of the best flyovers I had personally witnessed involved WWII-vintage aircraft, ranging from P-51 Mustangs to Spitfires to even an ORIGINAL Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero, and the last remaining 1943 Northrop N9MB Flying Wing before it was lost in an accident

@@maxwellharris507 Yes that is true. Given better circumstances the Horton may have flown first. But neither was destined for production as controlling the surfaces for stable flight was not possible without computers.

In fact I became overwhelmed with emotion and started bawling.... I am eternally grateful of those who have and are serving. It isn't even so much as pride as it is gratitude. And to think that we are at odds with each other now over who our leader is and other matters. We can talk about these various topics and try to unite under one flag, one nation, one gargantuan sacrifice that we have all made one way or another. Let's come together and heal our brothers and sisters not push them down. We can do this.

7:56. I was at that game we were unaware of the flyover. In one of the top ten rows and they came right behind us. I’ve since become obsessed with aviation and will start training to be a pilot in a few months

At 1:38, those aren't planes coming out of nowhere that are part of the fly over. They're fireworks shooting off from the top of the stadium to represent the "rockets' red glare" as that line is sung during the National Anthem! Great videos, thanks!

So when the blue angels flew over nd and navy, their was a photographer who took a picture of the band and inadvertently got a picture of the angels flying over. My barber has the picture and it was really cool to see the game that it came from. Also, my brother was a mechanic on the thunderbirds.

One of the coolest flyovers I have ever experienced was actually at the 2020 Nascar All Star race in Bristol, TN. It was the largest crowd sporting event since the sports world reboot. 30,000 fans. It was a night race and the cars had underglow lights and about 6 or 7 planes flew over in the V formation with sparks flying in their trails. Followed by the most famous words in Motorsports. Drivers, START YOU'RE ENGINES! I tell you, I didnt have a worry in the world that night.

The first 2 videos are from Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs. It is the loudest stadium in the NFL. You can even catch a bit of the National Anthem during the 2nd video so fear from the stadium. I don’t know where the planes were from, but most military flyovers are from Whitman Air Force base,

This happened at the Kansas City Chiefs Stadium, there is an outfit outside of KC that does amateur flying events with these aircraft. Please realize that these are recreational and some commercial pilots and that they are flying Homemade Kit-built aircraft. All of these aircraft arrive to the builder in a kit form and require hundreds, if not thousands of hours to build.

When I, and I'm sure most Americans, looks up and sees the United States Military Air Forces performing Flyovers, I not only see the Magnificence of Technology and Human Interaction, I also feel a PAIN in my heart for those that died defending Our Country, PEACE for our ENEMIES and their FAMILIES that have been displaced or KILLED, JOY for the FREEDOMS that I, as an AMERICAN, CHERISH every day, the COMFORT of knowing that Our Armed Forces are the BEST in the world, and PRIDE in knowing that America is where OPPRESSED people want to run for a better way of life.
