Very informative video. I love walking through fruit and nut orchards and had the opportunity to walk through a kiwi orchard many years ago, it was an unexpected surprise as I didn't know how they were grown.

Zespri Gold are a real nightmare, I can vouch for that one. Don't get me wrong, they are delicious, but ooooh boy. I worked in a kiwi factory, where shipped in kiwi's - from ships - needed to be sorted. When Zestri Gold batches came in, half of it usually had to be thrown away due to rot, broken skin or simply overly ripened fruit (literally mushing up at the slightest touch). I think that's one of the reasons why Zespri Gold are so expensive in our country (Belgium): lots have to be thrown away before even reaching the stores.

I work on a orchard here in New Zealand and we have just finished cosmetic picking, anything with rub marks or hail damage got thrown on the ground thousands of gold gone to waste. There’s still a lot on the vine but my boss said he will request it back from the pack house.

This is a very informative video, but must be quite old. Please note the Gold variety illustrated (with the "beak") is no longer commercially produced by Zespri in NZ (the last season when some was produced was 2017-18). The variety 'Hort16A' marketed as Gold™ was badly affected by the Psa-V incursion from Nov 2010 and most vines were grafted over to 'Gold3', also known as 'G3' and marketed as SunGold™. "Gold3" is much more tolerant of Psa.
