Today we’re doing something a little different, but we want to show you guys on a working holiday visa in New Zealand what it’s like to working in a fruit orchard in New Zealand. We are in Te Puke, Tauranga to do some kiwi fruit picking in Te Puke. We join a team of kiwifruit pickers from our hostel, Pacific Coast Lodge, for some kiwifruit picking in Tauranga. This video will show you what it is like to do this popular backpacker job in New Zealand for people on a working holiday in New Zealand.

I did apple-picking in NZ, but got the sack on the first day! You had to climb up ladders and stand on the very top and pick....nothing to hold on to, and the basket in front makes you off balance, so I nearly fell off a few times, and the manager did not want a an accident waiting to happen, so gave me the boot! I then did apple packing

my first job in New Zealand was making Pavlovas, I worked for 3 hours and never came back! I was extremely squeamish of having to scoop the super sweet cloud like egg whites into something that looked like a pan, then placing it into a baking tray pulling then pan up in the hope that eh pavlova would say beautiful and round...in the mean time you hand is sticking to everything .... no thanks...then second job was inside a silo scooping oats to the center of the silo...looking back its like a horror movie

Damn, I wish I had done this in my early 20s! This was the early 2000s. I was looking into how I could spend a year in New Zealand, and I saw things about this while looking online, but I thought it was probably exhausting migrant labour that would make me miserable and I wouldn't enjoy my time in New Zealand because I'd be too busy trying to pick enough Kiwis to get by.

They use to pay by weight, now they pay minimum $19.50 hr. they had too. Otherwise no one will pick there crop 😂🤣! The grower still makes a profit.
