hey Chris - Looks like a great tour. I am going in late Feb or March 2020 and again with a group of 4 in late Nov 2020. I have done both islands on a Honda xl 185 - old farm bike with a back pack bolted to the left side of the bike. Back in 1986 their were very few dual sport models for $150 NZD .( old farm heading bike - need another $100 for lights etc. Nearly the whole trip I camped and hunted accept for Milford were I was the hunted one (mosquitos) luckily a girl I knew worked in the only govt run hotel at the end of the Milford dead end rd. Feb 2020 I will only to south Island. do you have any special hacks or highlights which may be good for this next trip.. did you stat in any good B.B's or other Accom to recommend.
