I am always a kiwi at heart, I have been living in Australia for three years now, but I was born and raised a true kiwi, just because u live somewhere doesn't mean u belong there, I may stand here in Sydney but my heart is buried in the land of the long white clouds, this brought tears to my eyes, and pride to my heart, may god defend new Zealand and her people.

we may have sheep but then again we have the Kiwi, the Ponamu, the Koru and of course the beautiful Southern Alps and Mount Aoraki or Mount Cook :) I live in New Zealand and I must admit its a amazing place to be. Maori is a native language here and I must admit its beautiful. People may think sheep is the only thing you can see in New Zealand but thats not the only thing. We have the magnificent museum called Te Papa and the Auckland Sky Tower.

My ancestors were Scottish and Irish and all bar one Irish great grandparent were in NZ in the 19th century. I know NZ has a rich Scottish heritage, particularly in Otago. Dunedin is derived from the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh for goodness sake. Living in Australia at the moment I realise we use Scottish language features that Aussies find a wee bit amusing. Don't worry we aren't all as ignorant as the troll having a crack. God defend Scotland too!

@IRememberTheOldDays The future of Scotland and whether we become independent and put an end to the United Kingdom is hardly a little situation. As my comment is one of the top comments, it seems the good people of NZ do care. Actually, NZ has a very large amount of people with Scottish ancestry with many towns and cities named after Scottish places. Search google for Scottish New Zealander to see our close links.

@SammyKTA Yes, sorry, i picked you up wrong. I see what you mean is most Kiwis really don't know the difference between Scotland & England. That's not your fault. Most of the world don't either.... But they will soon. Yes, the referendum is binding. The UK Government has stated many times that if the outcome is that Scots want independence then they will negotiate with the Scottish Government and give us our independence.

So the people that seeked freedom for New Zealand also held ' extreme views '? With Independence, we will also still have the Queen as head of state as you do. And you might need to catch up on the news a little bit. Since i posted that comment 9 months ago, a referendum has been confirmed to be held in autumn 2014 and the yes campaign has just begun. Dear people of New Zealand In the next 4 years the people of Scotland will vote in a referendum to decide if they want to be an independent country, free from the United Kingdom. Please show your support for my countries INDEPENDENCE by giving this comment a thumbs up. Thank You From SCOTLAND. Long May Scotland & New Zealand Prosper ! P.S. You may even get a new flag if we become independent as the Union Jack will no longer be a recognised Flag.

So do you think that the Commonwealth would be stronger if it simply become the United Kingdon, and was ruled from London as one country, with one anthem?
@glasgow123412 жыл бұрын
I couldn't care less how many MPs we elect to Westminster. It makes no difference. In this union the dominant power is England and it always will be. Scotland doesn't have a voice of it's own. in Europe and the world the tories at present speak on behalf of us and they everything that Scotland is not. And this isn't about nationality. Just because GB and AD were Scots doesn't mean Scotland was being represented ! I and many people will be voting YES in 2014 and yes i will wave my flag with pride
@glasgow123412 жыл бұрын
I don't want independence out of romanticism. I want independence because it's only natural and right for a nation's people to govern themselves. Scotland will be better off financially with independence.. our people have long been ignored in this so called "united" kingdom and we are sick to the back teeth of it. We want independence for all practical reasons and not to wave a flag or sing an anthem.

I was meaning for NZ. I love the UK and it seems kinda sad Scotland would want Independence, but thats in my eyes, I know there are two sides to every story. Beautiful place though. A lot here aren't really into republican ideas. Plus NZ looking after other Pacific Island countries under our Independence, including our own disasters like Christchurch Earthquakes, we always needed the extra support. ^^;;

Two years is a long long time in politics and when it comes right down to the day... i firmly believe the people of Scotland will vote to have their independence back in their hands! Yes there are people who at the moment say they are voting no and from what i hear from them it's because they believe the unionist propaganda that we are too small, too poor and too weak to be independent. The arguements will be won by the yes campaign and Scotland will be independent once again :D

New Zealand is the 7th largest country with the highest population of Scots and people of Scottish ancestry. @glasgow1234 you have 5 likes on a video of around 80,000 views; that goes no way to show widespread support for independence. And Ill wager they're probably scottish individuals who happened to watch this video, like yourself. (or who you invited? its a possibility). Oh I dont doubt there's the occasional scottish link but its not exclusively Scottish, not at all. Remind me who's flag is in the corner of theirs and whos commonwealth they're part of?

@glasgow1234 to be quite honest, I wouldnt be surprised. Or at least they're all actually Scottish, doubtless anyone else; because quite simply, its not really an important international incident, it really isnt. Ok, supposing that statistic about NZ is true - the entire population of NZ is what 4.4 million? You're using the same method of ignorant narrow minded statistics that newspapers use. I think you'll find, without much effort at all, British ties are far stronger and more numerous.
@glasgow123412 жыл бұрын
Scotland would not become a republic. It would retain OUR monarchy with independence and be part of the commonwealth exactly how NZ is at the present moment. We would be equal with your own country and every other. And you have to think realistically here and not delve into romanticism about the UK. Imagine for one minute living in NZ with no parliament and all decisions being made in London by people who pretty much ignore you.. Would you support independence for NZ?
