Needs a solar roof. You want fossil drivers to feel a twinge of heart break seeing ev's charging in the shade while they burn their bottoms on hot seats.

What a fantastic layout and good to see finally particularly in the southern hemisphere a non-Tesla multi-bay site. Yes there is improvements that could be done but as an initial concept for their first one this is great.

As an EV driver the more charging options the better. It must be tricky deciding locations but from a personal perspective I would have thought open roads between destinations is more useful? Speculation but in urban areas people are more likely to charge at their home and enjoy much cheaper “ fuel”

Hamilton has one Chargenet fast charger, and one Chargenet medium charger. For a city with a population of 170,000, thats pathetic. Come on Chargenet 1. Fix the Mill St charger so it can charge 2 cars at once, but not throttle the Chademo to 15KW while the CCS blasts out 37KW. And no, its not a car-related thing. My Leaf E+ takes 50KW comfortably without blinking an eye (its faster than our MG with CCS) 2. Upgrade the Hamilton north charger so it can charge 2 cars at once 3. Install another dozen fast chargers at various locations across the city

In Htown tesla has 10! And we network has a bunch so plenty of fast charging there.
@Goodkiwibloke
@Goodkiwibloke Ай бұрын
@@letric7927 yes I am aware of that, but 1. My charging is through Chargenet as I have Genesis EVerywhere plan = $0.30/KWh. Other chargers are 2.5X the price (an extra $20 per fill) 2. We chargers are not true fast chargers, lots of them provide only 12KW, others 25KW. I don't have 2-4 hours to wait to charge up the car 3. Chargenet is the biggest network of chargers that covers NZ. A total of 2 in Hamilton just doesn't cut it, especially when the Mill St charger is half broken (it's a Tritium charger, and they went belly up a few months ago)

That's great. They just need to add some shade and it will be perfect.
@pinkelephants1421
@pinkelephants1421 Ай бұрын
Shame they didn't include solar canopies and battery storage. It would have helped offset commercial on-demand charges to the company; these tend to be extortionate. Additionally, the shading provided would have helped charging be more efficient for both drivers and the charging provider during Kiwi summers. In a country like Aotearoa whose summers can be brutal, you'd think that solar canopies and battery storage would be an automatic no-brainer.

Not sure how that works when there is over 23500 Nissan Leaf registered in NZ with Tesla second on 17,000, BYD 5000 MG ZS EV 3777, Kona EV 3000, and the rest 2000 to a few hundred. More CCS cars? Yes a huge amount more? Nope. But of course most Leaf never leave the city so the fast chargers are hardly used. And very few CCS EV can take advantage of the 300kw chargers and not a lot with the 150kw. Even our EV6 only chargers at 230kw for a few mins then drops to 170kw till 70% then its all downhill from there!!

Please add the ChargeNet rapid charger locations to the Tesla nav system. Would help drive more customers to your chargers!

Re-charged there on a road trip on Saturday night. The pub has friendly staff and great food but a poor selection of non-alcohol beer and a lovely, but sadly gas fire!

Hopefully the planners in Ireland are watching this. Ireland was years ahead of both Australia and NZ for ev adoption but we haven’t got one decent charging hub. The layouts are ridiculous.

Great infrastructure but the problem is 85 cents/kWh plus RUC works out to be more expensive than petrol. A bit exorbitant.

I drive 500km a week in a EV I’ve owned for 18 months. Never ever came close to stopping to charge. Is there that many apartment dwellers in NZ. My range is 525km a day roughly 6 hours. I avoid driving 6 hours in a petrol car.

Haven’t paid to charge car in 18 months. Low maintenance safer and faster and free fill ups. Petrol is for cavemen hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣

5 chargers is the biggest int wu country? That’s pathetic, as a kiwi living in Norway this is laughable. Norway has charging locations with upwards of 100 chargers in many locations around the country.

You know the difference, Norway has a massive percentage of ev uptake compared to NZ. So it is blindingly obvious that they needed to cater for them. NZ will also have large charging hubs when the ev sales reach over 90% like in Norway.

There are 15 cords & 10 charging bays. Chargers can share their 300kW over around their cords in 75kW blocks. So no issue charging 10 cars at a time. On comparison's to Norway, NZ's light fleet is 1.73 % BEV. Norway as at sept 2023 was 23.6%. Given ~14x the EV update, it isn't really a surprise that fast charge stations in Norway are much larger than in NZ.
