Fun to watch. This made me pause the video to order Digestives and a few other things. Had to stop myself from ordering a box of Walker crisps. Instead of using DampRid, could you get a dehumidifier? Dehumidifiers pull moisture and you can simply empty them - may be much cheaper in the long run. Costco might have it.

I do like prawn cocktail walkers crisps, frazzles and a pickled onion monster munch 😋 I also have a dehumidifier (and used to even have two of them) but you still really need DampRid on top of that.

@@josatkin That's insane. I need to have a humidifier because rooms can get very dry where I live and you need 2 dehumidifiers. I guess the bright side of humid climates is people don't really suffer from dry skin.

Thanks for the walkthrough. I'm just planning my trip to nz soon , and was just wondering if the supermarkets have ready to eat food, like sandwiches or other hot food?
@josatkin4 ай бұрын
Where are you from? I find the NZ supermarkets don’t really have a big selection of grab and go bits like we do in the UK. Also it’s more a pie culture than meal deal sandwich setup. You can go to cafes and get sandwiches but supermarkets don’t really cater for this aspect really. They do have hot food bits like a little pie, chicken wings in heated areas in the supermarket but it’s really not a good variety of options.

@@josatkin from the US... Hmm ok I was trying to save some money by getting some macaroni salad or potato salad at least etc...
@josatkin4 ай бұрын
@@reminder2laugh they do have like a deli section where you can ask the staff at the deli counter for coleslaw, potato salad, little bites to eat like a samosa. The deli counter would be the most suitable section for potentially what you’re thinking about. I will take some pics and put on my YT channel so you can see.

$78 I'm shocked. Liked the store but the prices! 😮

Yep it’s not the cheapest supermarket in NZ. I did also get some imported items and in general you pay between double or triple the price to what they cost in UK. But I do love a naughty treat. The Mr Kipling French fancies were delicious 😋

Jo just to put you the picture Woolworths used to be NZ owned then sold out years ago and brought out by an Australian and has turned it into a supermarket.

Fun to watch from Russia. All groceries around the world are about the same. The comsumer mindset sees them as the shrines of the modern urban civilisation.

I love going to different countries and seeing what speciality food and different brands they have. I have some other food vlogs coming other nationalities that has been an experience. Thanks for watching!

Pretty standard layout although l notice you are straight into the fruit and veg. Many supermarkets have what they called a decompression zone- not much there just a small space for you to adjust to your surroundings. They employ psychologists! Incidentally no one apart from Americans likes what they call chocolate, so don’t feel bad.

That’s really interesting. Whenever I go into the supermarket I always have a list. If I ever go into a supermarket hungry, I do always get swayed by the odd naughty cake/brownies. I’m all for the odd treats in life though and love a gorgeous afternoon tea 😋

@@josatkinThe reason fruit and veg is first is to make you think of it as a place full of wholesome food. They have a lot of tricks to keep you in the store longer cos the longer you are there the more you spend. That’s why they move stuff around so you spend time hunting for things. The environment is created to make you relaxed ( lighting, colours etc) so you will spend more. Most people know about eye level but they also put things attractive to children at their level. They use social issues to promote spending like a box for groceries for the poor. Loyalty cards are designed to find out about our shopping habits. I don’t know if you have Aldi and Lidl but they are a far more straightforward proposition.

@@jontalbot1 Yes I remember watching a documentary when I lived back in the UK about how supermarkets are designed and engage customers - it was fascinating! We have Lidl & Aldi in the UK but I've never actually shopped there. I will be doing other UK food vlogs when I fly back over there as I'm curious to see if I'd like them. I used to shop in Morrisons many years ago when I lived in another city as it was the nearest supermarket to where I was living at the time. Thanks for the insight and ongoing support with my channel! 🤗
