My experience so far as a pregnant mum is that there are huge gaps in midwifes up to date medical knowledge here in nz, comparative to international studies. More training and in depth care and knowledge is required to cater for individuals medical needs throughout pregnancy.

I agree! Also with alternative methods. However, maybe if they had more time and were paid for additional learning things would drastically change for the better

Midwives and especially nurses are still short staffed and underpaid. DHBs have been hiring business CEOs to manage health services and they have been treating them like factory workers, looking for ways to cut staffing costs, all the while plotting points on a graph to ensure they get their million dollar bonuses for "a job well done". We should all be ashamed of where this is heading and the lives and livelihoods this has already effected.
