Hi! Yes they advise not to purchase the tickets until after visa is approved, so you can show proof that you or your sponsor will have enough money to buy the tickets. This is what's stated from the website: "proof you have enough money to buy a ticket out of New Zealand, in addition to the funds you have to live on - do not buy your ticket until your visa has been granted or we tell you that your application is approved in principle"

I couldn't find specific information about sponsors applying on behalf of the applicant, but saw information on the site stating that immigration advisers, employers, and education agents can apply ok behalf of applicants. It doesn't look like sponsors can do it on behalf of the applicant, however I recommend contacting NZ immigration to confirm. My best advice is to contact New Zealand immigration directly or speak to a licensed immigration advisor. You can always submit an application for you and your children and provide as much information as you can and make sure you provide all requested documents and meet the requirements. Immigration NZ will contact you directly if they require more information.

Hi, please see my reply to another similar comment: You can look for a job in New Zealand while on a visitor visa, but you would need to get a valid work visa and meet the requirements before you can work. It would also depend if you get a job offer while you're here.
