Nice video! I'm the volunteer with my sleeves rolled up with the camera around my neck. My apologies for bombing your footage so often! Had I known you were there I would have made an effort to keep out of your shot. Please continue making these videos. They really portray how much of a buzzy airfield Ardmore can be - even in the middle of winter.

Thanks for your comment, aviation needs keen young men to keep it alive! Over the years I have made quite a few videos at Ardmore. Search “Ardmore Airfield” on my channel for more.

As a kid driving with my parents past Rukuhia in the late 50's seeing all those WW2 aircraft sitting waiting to be stripped or buried. Goodness me.....

Around 1964 they were offering a Corsair without engine for 10 quid and another 10 quid to truck it up to me in Auckland. I did not have that much spare cash!

Nice footage of two iconic war planes. I assume the Mustang is air worthy and would have liked to see it fly, along with the Corsair, but that's okay. It was rare and great to see both planes together and running. Thank you. You did have a great side view of the Corsair showing why it was a bit of a problem landing it on a carrier, with the cockpit so far back from the long nose of the plane.

Thanks for your comment. Next time I may move from the apron and get some flying footage, I have quite a few videos taken at Ardmore Airfield on my Channel.

Good to see the Corsair back, when did it get flying again?

Hi, NZ 5648 first flew at Ōmaka September 1, 2023 and is now owned by Mike Jones of Auckland. Vintage Aviation News has full information. Great to see it back in Ardmore!

Where's the Spitfire?

I think they only take her up when they have a fare paying passenger as you will have seen with the Mustang. The pilot of the Corsair only got his rating the day prior and this was his first flight following that.
