A 68-year-old woman from New Zealand was killed during an attempted armed robbery in Newport Beach, California. The suspects, who were from out of town, have been arrested, according to authorities.

@@Charlyky I remember 18 yrs ago in SF (when it was light yrs ahead of its current horrific situation), a German woman, who had saved up her whole life to see SF, was attacked on a street in North Beach area and was slashed in her face so severely by a derelict that she almost died. I can only imagine the trauma and physical scarring were life changing. I actually cried that night when I heard that on the news. That would be her, her family's and all those around her where they're from view of SF, CA and America: her lasting memory of our goodness, justice, greatness as a society.
