Farm I used to work on had a guy we called Gomer, he was joining two hoses with a coupler very similar to the one u did. He couldn’t get them on the coupling so he put a slit in the hose on each side then used duct tape and three clamps per side b4 firing up the pump and quickly taking a unplanned shower in glysophate! I never saw boss man so mad b4 that day! Turns out he let the pump run out gas cause he said he couldn’t get to the pump to turn it off, thus emptying 3000 gallons of chemical on the ground! Boss man docked his pay for 3 months till he had re paid the cost of the chemicals, new hose and coupler! On the bright side no weeds ever grew again in the barnyard!

For making it easy to put that hose on the plastic fitting we would use some kind of liquid soap, hand or dish soap, it would lube the fitting and hose so it would slide on very east. Also works for getting oil rings to slide into fittings easy... Try it and you'll be a believer ! !

See if you can put a valve at the tank so you can shut off the flow from a different location if it ever happens again.

a saddle type arrangement is available for your bungie idea and i would recommend attaching it to a swiveling arm if there is room.. anyway.. shake it off.. not the first to close a valve when a pump is running.. Much love and Thanks so much for Sharing

I kept sayingheat it up before putting hose fittings on, thenGreg brought the torch out. Bummer getting drenched in chemical and then the loss of chemical. I like that I don't need to water my garden.

I have not used that exact size and type of hose, but for many other sizes and types I have used, softening the ends for a few minutes in a 5 gallon bucket of hot water often helps to get them over barbs on fittings. I'd suggest caution using PB blaster and grease on plastic hoses - they can attack some kinds of hose. Anyway, you got er back in the field, which is the main thing. Cheers!

Accidents happen that’s why safety always comes first . Was there a shut off on the 32% tank you could have shut off ? If not may that would be an idea , so if that happens you can should that off and may not get soaked by chemicals .

You might have to get haircuts weekly, with all that fertilizer soaking you.... That stuff is sticky, and I hope you didn't have any nicks or bug bites, they would sting.
