Just a little tip. Turn your propane cover around. If for any reason the door on top was left open or loose, while traveling it could flop open and you could lose the door from wind pressure. If turned around this will not occur. You guys are on top of things on setup! Very thorough. Thanks for showing the RV community how it's done!👍👍☝✌🇺🇸❤

So that is even more great! Do you guys have a tear down video for this trailer? Also any tips for us with owning the mini lite? It will be our very first trailer. Also is that a Tundra you're pulling it with? We have a Toyota Sequoia 2010 limited with tow package. I've heard that there is a few things we need to have done to our suv before we start towing, something to do with brakes and sway hitch lol sorry first time owners of a trailer. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video!!

We do have the 2506S and pull it with a Tundra. What size motor does the Sequoia have? You really want to look into more than the tow capacity. Brakes, Trans, and motor all come into play. Even the Tundra can be challenged by our trailer in the mountains. The only tear down video we have done so far is the black tank management video we did.

I don't know that it will fix the step problem, because the trailer will be uneven if we over list the passenger side. The problem is when the area where the steps land is higher than the area the trailer is sitting on.

@hspb3 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on the purchase of your travel trailer! There are a LOT of different videos, and websites, that will have a list of setup procedures. My suggestion is to either write down a step-by-step list, or print one off from a website. It may not be exactly the list for your travel trailer, but you can make notes on it to better suit you. One thing to keep in mind, if you are unsure about something, when you get to your campsite, don't be afraid to ask another camper if they could help you out as well. Most people will be more than happy to help answer questions you may have or even assist you in setting up. Don't be afraid to be "that person" who has a piece of paper with a list on it, walking around your travel trailer making sure you have everything set up correctly. Skipping a step may end up with damage and costly repairs. Also, just a quick tip: If you are not familiar with backing up a trailer, take it to a "Big Box Store" parking lot and practice backing it up into a parking spot. You will have wide open spaces and feel more comfortable the first time you back up into an actual camping spot.

Nice work guys! Hey, you might want to consider getting a LevelMate Pro. Makes the whole process of leveling easier/simpler. It's nice that I can sit in the cab of the truck and looking at the app get side to side level without wifey having to monitor anything. Then when I go to the jack I just take the phone and level front to back, again no need to setup a level anywhere. Your next rig you might want to consider one with an app to control things like slideouts/awnings/lights, etc. Our little Grand Design has the app and it makes it easy for me to do everything on the outside of the rig (like put out the slide), frees up wifey to do other things. I use the Hughes Power Watchdog, hardwired, so that I can check the app. No need to mess around with anything at the pole, very handy.

I carry a level in the camper but seldom use it. The levelmate pro is far superior. I turn it on, put the Anderson levelers on the low side, back up until it says level side to side. Disconnect and raise the tongue jack until it says level front to back and set the stabilizers. Takes 5 minutes tops and it's a one person job. Also, your steps are springing back up because you're bending the metal plate they're attached to. You actually needed to lower the legs a hole or so until they set firm. If your door doesn't clear at that point you have some issue, maybe that plate is severely bent. I have the exact same steps on a RW ultra lite so I'm quite familiar with them.
@4EverHoneymooning3 жыл бұрын
The level mate would be a good add on, but the steps have been bent since day one. We've removed legs, dug holes, and all kinds of adjustments and still have issues. We aren't fans.
@caseypries75593 жыл бұрын
@@4EverHoneymooning I've had pretty good luck with mine but I would prefer the LCI ones which have a squeeze release instead of pins to adjust the feet. I often lift and readjust the steps 4 or 5 times to get them just right but once they're adjusted they are nice and solid. I would recommend removing them and straightening out the mounting plate. Then you can get them to work correctly.
@4EverHoneymooning3 жыл бұрын
@@caseypries7559 I agree. They are nice and solid once you get them settled. It is going in under warranty and we are hoping we can have them fixed/replaced. Honestly, in looking at other trailers of the same size the stairs are much smaller. We've never lowered the legs more than one pin length so I think ours are too large for our trailer. Great advice though. Thanks for watching.
@caseypries75593 жыл бұрын
@@4EverHoneymooning If the steps are bent down you wouldn't be able to lower them much and still get your door to shut as I bet that plate is bowed upward quite a bit. I noticed your screen door rubbing as you shut it and that's never happened to mine however the outside door rubs if the steps are too high. I noticed early on that this seemed like it could be an issue if someone didn't realize it and stepped on them while the legs were set too short. It's quite possible it's been like this since you bought it.

No, we just choose which method we want to use and flip the switch inside. If you are hooked up at a campground and not needing a lot of power you can just flip the electric switch and it actually heats it up pretty quick. We rarely use our gas, but make sure you try and stay well under 30 amps of usage. If we are using a lot of power we switch our fridge and water heater to gas. I don't recall the Aqua View?

Hi, My wife and Ime are very new to camping. We loved your video, Newbie Guide to Travel Trailer Campground Setup. One thing I have a question is how to set up the water heater. If you have a video on that please let me know, I would love to watch it. Thank you, George

Do you guys have a background in public safety? This sounds like a national registry practical! Great job

It's funny how many people ask that lol. We actually both come from a public safety background.

Camping is so nice when there is a forest to camp in or a lake to park by. The one step up from a Wal-Mart parking lot for $50.00 per night is such a sad waste of money. Uggggh. I am glad you have a truck to pull that trailer with. Camp safe and enjoy.

We have camped full time since 2014 and are traveling with a F-350 and a 43ft toy hauler on the fridge when traveling we put it on gas then switch to electric .
@4EverHoneymooning2 жыл бұрын
Lot's of people do it, but that doesn't make it safe. We choose to take the safer route any time we travel. We have both seen a lot of a things in our life we never want to repeat in our own. But you do you.
@anthonyguess55282 жыл бұрын
I know their more expensive than I would definitely go with a Hensley hitch you don't have to worry about those bars and you have so many more angles available to you

Might be something to move to in the future. Our at up hasn't let us down in well over 100 trips and 25,000 or more miles.

When the campsites reservation asks for rig size, does that mean just the travel trailer, or the trailer+ truck? Thanks for you videos
@4EverHoneymooning2 жыл бұрын
Traditionally it is the trailer size. They usually build the tow vehicle into their equation. We had one experience where we had to park the truck nearby. But it of all our stops(well over 100) it was the one only.

You should connect the water and purge all the water lines of air, BEFORE you turn on the propane or connect the electric. Good way to destroy your electric heating element if the water heater is empty.
@4EverHoneymooning2 жыл бұрын
You are assuming we turn on the water heater right away. It's actually one of the last things we do. Traveling in the Southwest, my primary goal after a safe set up is getting the air conditioning going. We do run water during set up (not in video), but also almost never have air in our lines. I'm not sure I understand your logic on not turning on electric or propane unless your unit doesn't have a switch for the WH. You do have a good point for the WH though. Running water before turning on the WH isn't a bad idea.

Nice video overall. However at the 20:37 mark when "slowly" opening the black tank cap you were right in line with the discharge port. This is begging to take a nasty bath if it leaked at all. You want to be as far to the side as you can reach as you remove the cap. I worked as an aircraft mechanic for over 25 years and saw far too many get smurfed and then have to get tetanus shots when they took a bath from the contents of the tanks when removing the cap.
@4EverHoneymooning2 жыл бұрын
Slowly opening the cap is a must. When the side is out there isn't much of an option. Been lucky the first few hundred times.
