Many, many years ago, I was a driver for a Chicago messenger service. Often during early spring or fall, when it was cool enough to require a jacket and rain would be falling, I would find an out of the way parking spot in late afternoon after my deliveries. I would sit there listening to the radio, waiting for dispatch to release us for the night. The drumming of the rain and the coolness of the air would often cause me to doze for the final 15 minutes or so. Memories.

Well, after looking at all these ambiences, I choose this one under the roof with the rain beating down. What's outside the window for you? I see a narrow, winding cobbled street of a port town, not far up from the wharves, with ships at anchor. Could be Nantucket, or some little harbor in Wales or Cornwall. And the smell of the chowder and fresh bread is wafting up from downstairs.

Isn’t it cool how we as humans can have completely different lifestyles or circumstances at times ,be from different times as to when we were born or what we’ve been exposed to in this world , we can be from totally different places in this world .. and yet at the end of the day , we all are able to share this common thread among one another , where we recognize something, of sight and sound that is able to produce within us, this desire to be in a nice ,warm ,safe feeling , cozy place tucked away , warm and dry , yet listening to the sounds of the wind and rain , knowing such weather can be quite devastating and fierce , but amidst the comfortable conditions Of warmth and the flickering of candle light and the softness or warm blankets covering us and keeping us cozy and comfy and giving us that snuggly vibe of safety and contentment just calls to us .... as does the thought of having a nice warm drink or cup or bowl of soup , while tucked away in our comfy space , wearing pajamas that add another layer to our comfortable vision of where we want to be , where maybe we have a little cat snuggled up beside us , purring away and emitting such warmth as it sleeps cuddled up within the blankets in its own little tucked away place of warmth and drifts off to sleep , where we both just have no sense of time or awareness to the world around us in that moment of peaceful rest and sleep and warmth ,,, and perhaps we check off in our minds when we see this inviting environment , where we imagine locking ourselves away in a land where no pain exists , no chills or freezing harsh temperatures from the cold world outside , where we envision having all of our immediate needs met , where we don’t think about tomorrow , even though we do enjoy the beauty and warmth and new beginnings of a new morning and day... but yet we just focus our minds on rest ... and perhaps induce sleep at the thought of a nice book to read , whos pages have long been explored decades and maybe centuries ago , even, telling tales of long ago , as we envision perhaps , someone in those times , much like us now , was also finding refuge and warmth on a cold , rainy , starless night , maybe in the wilderness in an untamed world yet to be discovered or ruined by the ways of the world and it’s desire to move forward , Like it or not ,, with all the new things , the fast paced lifestyle and the sounds of traffic and chaos as the world has become inhabited at nearly every corner , by people on the move with ideas or inventions or desires to compete against time and against nature and old age , where instead of just being able to appreciate the moment of silence and warmth that comes in beautiful serene , cozy scenes such as this, people have forgotten what it means to have a hard days work rewarded by such peaceful rest and serenity in even the harshest of conditions , in the world outside .. and as we all come here into the virtual aspect of our own reward at the end of a day , or perhaps when we’re just feeling the fatigue of many days .. or if we’re sick and needing to rest and feel nurtured and comfy , to promote healing and recovery , we retreat all the same , no matter where we come from or where we’ve been , to this same place in our mind , which has either reminded us of a time long ago , where we perhaps found ourselves in a setting , very similar .. Perhaps were reminded of a time within our memory, in our distant past that included the same familiar vibes of comfort and rest , peace and security , not a csre in the world , no worries of paying bills or busy schedules, free from the pressure and stress of the world around us and it’s expectations .. and maybe we’ve visited this very place within our minds in the darkest of times in our lives when we needed reprieve and rest and warmth that could only be found within the confines of our imagination,, or maybe it’s an innate sense of comfort, which stems from our earliest stages of development and nurturing , a time of warmth and peacefulness we’ve long sense forgotten in the foreground of our minds , but exists still among each of us , beckoning us to return and revisit in times when our minds snd hearts are telling us to just slow down , to be still , to embrace the cozy environment and be filled with the sights and sounds that draw us inward to absorb the warmth and the heat that resonates in candle light that flicked off the walls of the enclosed space we find ourselves tucked away in without a care in the world , where there’s no sickness or suffering or pain , no responsibilities or demands of the outside world .. no phones ringing or noise blaring from the streets below , no other people insight , as we are in a place in our mind that is shut off from the world and it’s busy, busy endless loop of chaotic constant , on the go , out of touch ways ., maybe we all faintly remember the feelings of being wrapped up in blankets , all nuzzled up next to the one who nurtured us , as we’d wake in the night dependent on the nourishment and bonding and familiar voice and sounds of the heartbeat that gave us life .. where we perhaps were rocked to sleep , back and forth , back and forth , dozing off to the rhythmic sounds of the rocking chair , while tucked closely in warm embrace of our patient loving mama , who each night was our protection and refuge , when we were cold or hungry or couldn’t sleep bc of the noises outside that seemed so much bigger and scarier in our minds , upon days of our youth or infancy , when we’d yet to explore or understand the world around us ., yet we are reminded that those times were still , the best times .. though we’d yet to experience a lifetime of things that in their time beckon us , as we are called to reach so many milestones typical of age and development, where no one is ever a stranger to , as we all commonly share the same existence of growing up , experiencing all life has and the excitement and anticipation of our inquiring minds and hearts leads us all to similar paths , be they in the form of example or tradition or desires to Branch out and find ourselves as we navigate through this world of its many opportunities.. but as we all sit quietly , from here or there , from everywhere in the world , no matter the time of day or circumstances that lead us here , we all commonly find ourselves right here , with the same method of calming ourselves or nurturing a need for comfort within our minds and hearts. We are no different than one another , though we may experience so many unique things in our lives , but in the peaceful , warm , cozy , comfy candle light , the comfort of our beds and the darkness of the night sky around us , we all feel compelled to revisit this place , its sounds , it’s familiar glow , as the candle lights dance upon the subdued warm colors within this peaceful place we reside in our minds , the imagery of this safe , cozy place just removes for a moment , any fears or stress or pain , where we find that even among sleepless nights, we are safe and sound, protected from the raging storms outside ... we reflect on life , but at its core , it’s deeper sense , the life that connects us all , even seemingly while we may reach to this imagery and the sounds of the wind and rain that evoke our innate senses , as we wander thru time in our minds , thinking of Perhaps, our own ancestors and their Ways or survival and what it must have been like , in the fierce conditions of the winter landscape , before the days of electricity and modernity , we wonder what it must’ve bn like.to put in a hard long days work , to sustain ones self , to maneuver against the elements of nature , to procure ones meals and water source . How it must’ve been music to ones ears , to have the luxury of drawing a warm bath after such a cold , rigid day of stinging rain or snow , a murky mix of ice and darkened skies indicating storms moving in , as the creaky sounds of cabin doors and wood settling and wind and rain mixed to combine and compose a song of life and nature , evident of ones will to survive and thrive , which brings us back to today in our own moments of thinking and imagining and finding ourselves being called to just a moment where time stops and all that remains is our peacefulness , our sleepy minds , drifting off to dreams of our own unique inner selves as we travel through the realm of sleep and journey to places unseen or known in our waking life .,, and what seems to be evident among us all , is our need and desire for this little place ,, whether we ever venture to it in the physical sense , we have almost a metaphysical and spiritual connection and bond to it , that brings us here each night and even when we hear the sounds of thunder and rain or snow and wind in a darkened sky outside our own windows , we almost have this immediate Pavlovian response to the sounds& smells feelings that accompany nature outside , wherever we may find ourselves in the moment .. and to just hear the wind and rain and look upon the sky as we Listen and feel the effects of the world around us in its state , we suddenly feel ourselves being drawn right back here to the warm cozy place in our mind and the visual images that the inner warmth we feel is represented by and we begin to feel our minds and bodies reminding us , how sleepy we are .. as we curl up in bed , to maybe a cat or a good book or warm drink and comfy blankets surrounding us and we close our eyes and drift off once more , not s care in the world , no stress in sight. Just peaceful dreams and rhythmic sounds lulling us to sleep , sleep sleep sleep ...

This reminds me of old times..for example: I used to live on a farm growing up. I would work a lot out the field helping herd the cattle and sheep. My red heeler and I running through the field to get to the animals. And when it began to rain during the fall or spring, I would have to get my jacket on and run out, going bare foot to feel the mud and thick grass on my feet as I ran. Getting them in the barn was the best..the soft but quick patter of the rain on the roof and on the puddles was so calming. I would often lay there and doze off for hours on end. Waking up to realize I missed school and or I slept a majority of the day and smell like a cowpie..ugh the memories

@@jebstuart3 ooh such wit! How your linguistic skills thrill and delight! Unfortunately, I don't take my cues from anyone too lazy to write four simple words, too ignorant to make a point, and so absurdly (even comically) foolish as to find comments to respond to with something so utterly inane as "stfu".
