Great shopping haul, apart from the eggs. Those eggs are so cheap because they are caged hen eggs 🫤

That’s true but where I come from, we eat more of eggs from caged hens so it’s not a problem for some of us 😅

@@Timiscorner Thats a shame, its a pretty awful life for the chickens 😢 . Would rather pay the 50p extra for free range. Hoping one day soon they will cease to exist. Most supermarkets do still provide one option for caged eggs and luckily all the rest are free range usually.

​@@wotsitjimbob2271 I am a sustainability consultant and i can tell you that most brands use the term "free range" pretty loosely. In some cases, the chickens are still caged and are on a schedule to be let out of the cages... in some other cases, they are kept in a really small fenced area that doesn't really serve. Unfortunately, there is a lot of greenwashing activities that occurs with terminologies and labelling these days. And "free ranged" are just disguised caged hens in most cases

You're making the £ stretch 😅. This is the same as shopping at the discount stores like Aldi and Lidl. Nice one and enjoy the Bargain Hurt, do check branded items now and then to see if you get value for money. All the best.

@@Timiscorner all am saying is that with the "essentials" from Asda it's the same as shopping with Aldi and Lidl. Most people don't realise this.

Are the “just essential” product of same quality as the branded ones?

@@omolabakeoladeru602 sometimes it differ in taste, texture and quality take for example the plum tin tomatoes of the essential or store brand might not be thick as the branded Italian's ones but if you add tomatoes puree to it, it almost there also for baked beans and other items. Their are varieties and the choice is yours!

@@omolabakeoladeru602 the only “just essentials” item I have tried and didn’t like is rice. Every other item has good quality in my opinion. Thank you for watching
