Great pen from Schar. Very impressed with Osula, them runs he was making were sublime and that turn in the box when he spun the defender was very shearer/bergkamp esk. Very good experience for such a young lad! Wimbledon defended well, sat back all game but really made it difficult to create anything. Seen it happen so many times in cup competitions when a team sits back it’s hard to create much but they really defended well.

Only 1-0 but 78% possession and 18 shots to 2, have to give credit to Wimbledon for solid defence. Thought Osula looked promising, lots of runs, great work rate, athletically strong and some nice touches. Bit worrying how little we created though, lacked a bit of creativity the quality of crossing was poor.

Difficult to find a space to cross into when Wimbledon had 11 men behind the ball all night, but I do agree. And I love Miggy but if he could just use his right foot every now and then he might have scored a goal

Everyone talking smack. Wimbledon deserve credit, Newcastle were certainly trying to win big. But even a league 2 side can be tricky with the right tactics and a strong squad mentality that doesn't just give up because of the obvious difference in class.. And Newcastle aren't terrible because they didn't batter a league 2 side.. That's the glorious thing about football, even a league 2 side can turn over a big team on their day.

We did what we needed to do. It was "attack v defence" for most of the game. Lots of families and newbies there I think. The away fans were in good voice, hopefully loving every moment. Unlucky for them. Their team did ok.

Solid defensive performance from the Toon but without a clinical striker we're struggling to decide what to do from attacks down the wing. Gordon and Bruno allowed us to kick it up a notch but we'll need to be way way better against Chelsea to progress in the next round. Luckily we always play well vs bigger opposition 😊

The one thing I dislike about Eddie Home is the fact that he continues to play Miggy on the right hand side. Every time he was put down the right hand side he does a 180 onto his left foot attacking wise he was dead in the water. I can’t understand why Eddie doesn’t play him on the left where is much more of an attacking threat and put Barnes or Murphy who can use both feet on the right.

Because Gordon and Barnes don't want to play on the right. Almost all inside forwards play with the opposite foot to the side they are playing on. Gordon is right footed and plays on the left for example.
