Regarding Pricilla, -mom's of all species will go through hell and high water for the sake of their unborn babies' survival. They will push their bodies to survive the most unthinkable things, whether it starvation, illness, and/ or injury just long enough to see their babies are born... I find this is especially true in animals, when they have finally been helped, it sometimes feels like these littles animal mama's wait until they know their babies are at least in trust worthy hands before they go on to finally rest....eternal over the rainbow bridge. so thank you for giving her babies a chance at survival, I'm pretty sure that's all she wanted, especially with how gravely she was injured...And you did everything you could to buy her the time she needed...you should be so proud of that!!! You are the kindest Soul, Kevin! She knew her babies were safe with you!

Kevin is an excellent teacher. One of my boas is illogical, doesn't think in any positive light, and hates the world. I had to move her to a tub bc she insisted on striking the glass everytime she saw movement in the reptile room and she just made herself more hateful and mad. I am respecting her boundaries and taking it slow. I have no need to rush the process.

I had a rainbow boa like that. She absolutely hated me! Then I got a roommate, and the snake fell in love with her. When the roommate moved out, I let her buy the snake for what I paid. Last I heard the snake is a real sweetheart and they have no problems. Some snakes are just weird that way.

I have a ball python as a class pet and I constantly talk to my students about modes when we handle her. I think the beginning of this video would be great to show my class to show them there's a reason I do weird stuff when I take our BP out for interaction. I've used these techniques for years and is how I tamed down my BP to the point I'm comfortable having her around middle school boys without incident.

Insight! This is by far my favorite video to date. There's a song lyric that fits perfectly here: "Life is less demanding when there is understanding." Correctly interpret body language, non-verbally convey intent. appreciate states of mind; people won't to do those things with other people, let alone animals; let alone animals that are "slimy, sneaky and slithery", (as many think of reptiles). Many thanks, Kevin. Sorry to hear about Priscilla, but you helped her survive long enough to contribute a new generation to her world. Thanks again.

Your rattle snake is gorgeous. Her skin has the patterns, colors and textures of a Berber carpet or the fabric of a Channel Tweed suit. All those speckles of beige and tans and browns on a white/ egg white-ish background. It's so easy to see why snakeskin has always in such high demand. But.... the GOOD NEWS is that there is a man made replacement and duplicate FOR ALL OF IT! There is no longer ANY NEED for one more animal to die for fashion's sake! There is NO NEED FOR ONE MORE REPTILE TO DIE FOR MAN'S UNSATIABLE DESIRE to look good!!

I love the language you use. calling the animal irrational especially, when theyre frantic and defensive. that word for some reason, seems to REALLY resonate with non snake people, or people who are ignorant to the general intelligence of reptiles. the implication that they CAN be rational, that they are inherently rational animals capable of thinking and processing on a higher level. i picked up on it and was using it when my neighbods kids wanted to see my snakes, and i could see a big change in how the parents were handling the situation compared to previous times!

I kind of had a fear of snakes. But this year, we got overrun with what I could try to identify as "ring necked snakes". They were black with a single, yellow ring around their neck. My cat was finding these little guys outside, and bringing them into the house through the pet door. So essentially, she forced me to face my fears. 7 times. She brought a ring necked snake in the house 7 seperate times this year. Thankfully they were all less than a foot in length, some even only about 6 inches. But I got really comfortable with catching them and releasing them outside unharmed. (I would just place them in a bucket, or dustpan, and carry them outside to release them) none were ever harmed thankfully. I think my cat just wanted a new friend, I don't know Lol

I think I figured out how the spinning thing works. My theory is that the snake, when moved involuntarily, instinctively tries to keep its head facing the same direction from the snake's frame of reference. Spinning takes advantage of this instinct to manipulate the position of the snakes head _relative to the handler's_ body. Example: 1. Snake and handler are facing north. (^S-H^) Accordingly, the snakes head is looking away from the handler. 2. Snake turns it's head to face west, handler is still facing north. (

So you handle snakes, like you handle mules. You circle around and then gently guide them and circle again and gude them again and they think OK this is interesting and kinda nice. Let's see what the human wants to do. I used to have to groom and lead two mules to work. Which they of aind not to go. They have big teeth and sharp hooves. I worked the pony ride at the carnival in 1990. We had two pony sized mules in the string. You had to run with them back to the corral at night. But going to the walker under the tent was an exercise in not getting bitten or stomped. No hard feelings, they just preferred the corral. Once hooked up they settled and had good stamina and the kiddos loved them. I just always use the long lead rope so we could circle and keep my body out of reach.

I grew up around horses so some of the things we learn apply. I’ve never dealt with mules beyond petting but you can’t make a big animal do something but we can lead them that way. K

That python is absolutely GORGEOUS! What is it called again? I keep trying to spell/look up the name but can’t find it. I’d love to do some research on it and see if it would possibly be a good pet and see if it’s even possible to find in the pet trade

@@kdogg1927 thank you! I’ve heard of and seen Indian pythons, but this one has an AMAZING color. I’ll have to see if I can find something similar if they are even still available in the US

Wow, I dont think I ever got to see a Bushmaster clearly, very nice, its easy to see how they blend in so well with thoes colors. Sad about Perscilla, at least she spent her final time being cared for and in peace and managed to deliver her babies. Hopefully most of thoes will get to grow up and add to the population. Good luck little noodles!

Kevin ive been watching your videos for some time. And over a year ago I got an adult corn snake thats never been handled right and was constantly upset. I did the tree spin with him often and it works so well even for tiny little corns❤

I got a pretty young boa constrictor a few months back who had his original pricing cut in half on account of being “spicy.” Took it as a challenge tbh but I also fell in love with his little mustache mark. Anyway he had a single “panic episode” after getting startled by me coming into the room (door latch upset him and it was the middle of the night, I can relate lil bro) and after I sat next to the enclosure and cooed at him until he quieted down a few minutes into it he’s never had another instance like that again, despite retaining some flightiness. If anything I think he’s my most eager snake when it comes to coming out of the enclosure for a look around.

I enjoy your videos and have learned so much from your videos! I am turning a spare bedroom into a huge reptile enclosure and was wondering what reptiles I can mix I understand it's not usually recommended! But like I was saying it's going to be over 2500 cubic feet and have a 5 foot pond and waterfall with grape vines going all over the room! So I was thinking I could do a few terrestrial and a arboreal species.?
