I’m not an expert on breeding dogs, but having the puppies under a heating lamp and momma alone for a little bit seems really clever. It’s good for momma to take a break every now and again. Also, those Newfie pups are SO ADORABLE! It makes me want a Newfoundland even more 😍

They did also say they can accidentally suffocate the pups, so definitely not a bad idea! I've never seen that in dogs but when they said that, it made sense anyway. All moms need breaks! 😄

We got a Newfie/BMD mix as a puppy. When we went to see the litter, Mom had lost 10 pounds nursing the puppies, and was trying to hide from them to get a bit of a break. The puppies were confined to a pen, and she was outside of it, snoozing under a nearby tree, where she could discreetly rest while remaining close. One puppy, fatter than the rest, we dubbed "piglet puppy" wiggled out of the pen and tracked her down for a snack, lol. She looked tired, but resigned, and let him nurse.

we have a 12 year old newfoundland/lab mix and he is the absolute joy in our lives. Great with kids, very gentile when accepting treats- he makes the drool and the hair bearable!

Dad was stationed in Newfoundland during WWII. The movie theatre had a Newfoundland that would lay down in the middle of the isle. Once in a while someone would trip over the dog and it would give a big woof. I've considered one my whole life. We have an older golden retriever now. Maybe the next one will be a Newfie. But, my wife gets the next pick of dog. Probably a pug or another golden.

Omg they are adorable!! All of them. I am in mb Canada. I had a new for 7 years, he passed away this past summer. I was looking for about the last 3 years for one but most newfs are retired now in mb canada. After I lost mine, I just gave up looking. You are so blessed, I loved having a newf. Best dog I ever had! One time mine sat on our cat and our cat struggled his way out. They were both black so when I seen something moving by his butt area but I was like omg wtf!! Then out comes my cat struggling his way out and my Louie wasn't even fazed about it! 😂 I completely understand why you'd have to be so careful with mom and her babies!

I have a 10 day old litter here right now . We do it the harder way. We let mom in the welling box and watch her every minute for the first 3 weeks. I the first 7 days I had a total of 21 hours of sleep . Funny how people think it’s a great way to make jo yes but in reality I will probably make below minimum wage with the hours I will have in. We had 9 puppies and you constantly count puppies. I have never counted to 9 so many times in my entire life.

I once studied a shop window at a yacht-chandler in Bensersiel-Harbour on the german coast... For five minutes, I did not realize at all, that a 'Newfy' was lieing there - totally relaxed, just 2 m away from me 😶‍🌫🥺😏😄❤

A beautiful mama, and her pups are remarkably precious. Based on the bounty of handsome pups, my guess is that the sire is a handsome, large Newfie, and probably black... I agree, the music is really nice.

I can’t even.... those chonky balls of cuteness overload! ❤️😍 I would love a Newfoundland, but the hip issues are definitely something that’s going to need expensive surgical intervention down the road. my Labrador retriever is a shedding expert, so I probably can’t imagine the coat maintenance on a Newf ! A Labrador Newfoundland Hybrid would be awesome tho! Best water pups in one!

Curious question.. I do have a male and female but we aren’t breeding. I was told never breed a brown to a grey becuse they inherit skin issues . You bred brown to black? Is color dna testing required..

Hi, we colour test along with all other health testing. I have never heard not to breed brown to grey before, maybe whoever said that is crossing wires and talking about dilute gene alopecia? Which effects only dilute dogs only.

BIG THUMBS DOWN...vids like this do more to harm the breed than just about anything I can think off. Too many people see the puppies and they buy not really understanding the (large) commitment, the potential health pitfalls and the costs associated with large breeds like Newfs. They don't just live in your house, they overwhelm it! Like the idea of slober on the walls, even the ceiling...those big webbed feet will track EVERYTHING inside, pawprints ground into carpets...like your couch? Your dog will like it a whole lot more, guaranteed! And what happens when owners begin to feel overwhelmed? Please do your due diligence, talk with a vet, consider dog health ins and talk with other owners.
