I lived a short period in Corner Brook back in my CFCB days. It was winter and lots of snow. Us east coasters are wimps compared to the west. But, during summer (my preference), Corner Brook is absolutely beautiful. Good coverage, Mark.

Corner Brook looks nice. Mount Pearl seems like a suburban wasteland. It feels very “car dependent” and full of stroads.
@anajonda3 ай бұрын
Mount Pearl an "other" city? They get all their drinking water from St. John's, half (or more) of their residents work in St. John's, and they send all their trash to the St. John's landfill. They are also surrounded on three sides by St. John's. But certainly, if there's some way that MP doesn't rely on StJ please tell us.

What is with these comments??? 🤣 Mount Pearl is classified as a city. City of Mount Pearl. If you don't like that, don't tell me. I got nothing to do with it. Send an email to the government and let them know your thoughts 😂

@@MetapaloozaTV StJ has plenty of places to work and meet friends. However, we also have one of the lowest vacancy rates in North America, right around 1.6%, so unless you know someone here (or are rich) it might be a tad difficult finding a place to live.

@anajonda ok. I’m currently staying in St. John’s right now. But there’s no work here I can find, dude. I’m a filmmaker. I like art and nature. But out here nobody wants to get together and jam. Or go do stuff. People here are fickle at best. So it’s good to find some good people. If anyone wants to help me find a place, I’ll owe them back! I don’t mind roommates, if they’re overall cool people who are interested in helping each other out. And yes, I’m serious.

@@MetapaloozaTV If you're looking to work in the film industry in Canada, NL is the not the best place to move. It's like being a filmmaker in the USA who wants to be based out of Maine, or Alaska, as opposed to Hollywood. As someone who attended film school in NL and has lived here all my life, that's the politest way I can sum it up for you. Whilst I can't speak for your bit about "nobody wants to get together and jam or go do stuff", I know for a fact that local fb groups have new posts almost every single day about people looking to jam or form bands, although it does depend on the kind of music you play. Likewise, NIFCO (NL Indie Film Co-op) frequently hosts events for interested filmmakers. Sorry I couldn't paint a sunnier outlook, but the fact is though the location comes with lots of benefits it has just as many drawbacks, mostly due to the logistics of being located offshore.

Damn, how I'd love to give my blunt, honest, reply but I know it would be utterly, pointless and go over your head like everything else here. So you are yet, another deluded, Newfoundlander that is unable or unwilling to see the insane, backwardness of this place?! I am actually, from Twillingate myself, and left the place back in the mid 80s for that very reason. I lived a year and half in Gander and found the same there, then moved to St. John's, and have been here ever sense; and have found the EXACT, SAME, THING, HERE, AS WELL. It's a bloody, backward place, with no vision and an endless, backward mentality. This is the very reason why this province never grows or progresses. Being away and coming back, you should be able to see that as plain as day. Now, what bloody, part of that can you not understand?
