In my own family one of my aunts had two sons with the same name. The first was named after her father but was so sickly and near death when the next child was born that she decided to name the new baby after her father as well. So there would still be a child with that name after the first one died. Well, the first little Joseph rallied. His coffin had been paid for and chairs had been borrowed for the wake, that's how sure everyone was that little Joseph wasn't long for this world. The priest had given him the last rites and all the ladies were crying and carrying on when he started inexplicably getting better. And he kept improving. Now there were two Josephs. Some debate took place on the advisibility of changing the new one's name, or at least the middle name of one of them, but their mother felt that would be wrong. Especially considering that it was a name with a long history in the family, and biblical origins. So both boys remained Joseph, both kept the middle name Mary, and nobody even gave either one a distinguishing nickname. They grew up to be very tall, muscular, physically imposing men. Whose siblings referred to as "my brother Joseph and my other brother Joseph", an introduction ALWAYS neccessary because you never saw one without the other. Ever.

This was truly a brilliant show. The episode where Michael becomes a cult leader with his "try smiling" line to me exemplifies much of the public is easily deeply convinced of the rightness of some ludicrous belief or conspiracy theory, and how sane Dick is utterly ignored with his mere logic and facts. What adds enormously to the humour is how he works at finding a way to explain why it makes no sense and then when he presents his argument to Chester and the other they say "No one believes that now, Dick. Get with the program!".

Always wondered if there’s an other sister. However, having asked Daryl he wrote a quick note explaining that, “an other and another are members of the same family of determiners, while other, on the other hand, is an adjective. While there’s no grammatical reason why a determiner and an adjective would be unacceptable, to say we have an other sister defies convention that makes an other sister unacceptable.”
