I want to continue to say how refreshing it is the guys aren't making fun of the questions, no matter how basic. It's obvious Jason genuinely wants to share the love and knowledge of the game.

I feel like generally teams will almost always go for 1 to tie the game, rather than risking an immediate loss by going for 2. It's most often used to either go up by a clean 3/7 or to only be down by a clean 3/7. Ex. It's 31-30 and the team with 30 scores a TD. They now have 36, up by 5 points. It's really not a big difference to be up 5 vs. up 6 since a 7-point TD+XP would take the lead, so they go for 2 to make the score 38-31 and be up a clean TD + XP.

1 vs 2 point conversion is also a result of a team score. If they kick 2 field goals (3 pts each, 6 total) they may be behind by one point. The 2 point conversion helps them "catch up". There are a bunch of different scoring scenarios, and that is only one of them

I have 2 questions: 1 when a player gets traded to a new team does he have to sign a NDA so he doesn't give the plays to the new team and question 2: I know the team has a final roster of 53 players but what is the break down of the number of players in each position and is it the same brake down for each team?
@Stunology357
@Stunology357 9 ай бұрын
i can answer your second question, simply no not all teams are the same in how they keep what players vs cut, long answer is they do it that way cause they can put a guy on the practice squad to prove himself/have backup just in case of injury. For example i'd say the eagles probably have 2 center as backup for Jason, but with Travis there can be more than one TE on the field at the same time so they would have more players on the active 53 man roster as backup to Travis because you can have more on the field than in Jason's case where there's only one center on the field each play. Hope this helps
@ckq
@ckq 9 ай бұрын
1. I don't think so, having players from another team can be helpful. The team probably changes up the calls to avoid that 2. Teams can do it differently but it's generally the same give or take a few players
@Bpixel17
@Bpixel17 9 ай бұрын
1. players can tell their new team any plays from their old team BUT they have to give up any playbooks or play calling back to old team before they leave so all the info has to come from memory. and besides playbooks are massive and strategies change week to week so knowing a handful of plays isn't that helpful 2. NFL teams are required to have to 53 man active roster. And the break down changes from team to team depending on what schemes they run. Like if a team ran a 3-4 defensive scheme then they'll keep more linebackers than defensive lineman. But the average breakdown of the active roster is Offense: 2 QBs 4 RBs 6 WRs 9 O-Lineman Defense: 9 D-Lineman 7 LBs 10 DBs 1 Kicker 1 Punter 1 Long-Snapper

Hey guys! Can you explain why the quarterback gives the ball to a player who then runs straight into a pack of defenders all fighting it out in a giant mess and basically gets nowhere? What's the point? It's so frustrating. Seems like a waste of a down.
@richardovercast2258
@richardovercast2258 8 ай бұрын
There are many reasons but I believe these 3 reasons are the most common. 1, it may look like it does not do much but when you have up to 4 plays (downs) to get 10 yards, a couple yards is actually pretty good. 2, everyone is so fast that only those with truly exceptional speed can actually reach the outside. Finally, a consistent inside run sets up two things. It will eventually tire out the defence and lead to bigger plays. It also sets up the "play action pass". That is when the offense lines up like its another run but the qb fakes the hand off and instead passes the ball.

it wasn't answered WHY you would attempt a two point conversion rather than a single point conversion. 8 points difference is considered a one score game as you can get 6 points for a touchdown and 2 for a 2 point conversion, in situations where you are 10 points behind after scoring a touchdown a 1 point conversion will not make it a one score game but a 2 point conversion will. Similarly if you are 5 points behind a 2 point conversion will mean you only need a field goal to tie but a single point conversion will mean you still need a touchdown. If you are leading however being 1 point ahead going for a single point leaves you vulnerable to a field goal losing you the game, but a two point conversion will mean a field goal only ties it. TLDR - if getting 1 point helps as much as getting 0 but going for 2 is favourable, go for 2
