Most heating and air guys have a brand preference or at least a brand that they sell more of, for one reason or another. In this video, Joshua interviews Ken, a heating and air technician that has selected Rheem as his go-to brand. Ken shares some highlights of the Rheem HVAC line. He also shares reasons he chose Rheem for his own home and for proposals he's giving to potential customers.

Great interview. I'm considering the Ruud RP17 side discharge heat pump amongst many other inverter systems. It appears to basically be a Fujitsu mini-split outdoor unit with a mostly conventional Rheem/Ruud indoor air handler, although the indoor runs at 240 volts off the power feed for the outdoor unit.

Going on 25 years on my RUUD/Weather King 3 ton and it’s still blowing nice cold air. A hard start was installed in the second year and the contactor was replaced twice and the run capacitor once. It’s been a great unit! I had a Weather King 15kw blower installed at the same time and never had any issues with it either.

We had a 3.5 ton 16 SEER Rheem A/C installed summer 2018 in southeast Florida. The company that sold it to us and installed it is family-owned. We took a semi-annual service maintenance plan with them. The first full month after installation our electric bill went from $300 per month to $150 per month. We've never had a repair required to the system. Very reliable. Rheem has been a positive experience for us. The only thing that I wish was different is I would like it to be a little quieter. Our original A/C was a Lennox and it was quieter but then again we had to have it repaired a number of times. Based on my experience overall, I would go with a Rheem again.

I worked at a residential / light commercial company for 10 years. Installing equipment in finished houses no new construction. We were strictly a Trane dealer at first. We were losing a lot of sales due to the cost of the equipment. We selected Rheem as our lower end equipment line. Another added benefit of using Rheem was the physical size of the air handlers. Trane was a monster of an air handler to get into a knee wall of a cape cod or up the attic steps.

I wanted to install a Rheem HVAC system in my home but my local supply house didn’t stock the 21” coil that I needed. I did get a good deal on the Goodman 16 SEER system with a matching GMVC furnace that I did install myself. I believe that the Rheem condensing units look great too. I like the Rheem furnaces but I hear the N coils are hard to clean so you better keep your filter changed. Rheem use to cost more than an equivalent Goodman system but pandemic prices have gone crazy so who knows what the prices are at now.

I’ve been a technician 1990 I’m way up north where it’s 4• F right now and in the summer it gets hot and humid, and my favorite furnace is Amana which is a high end Goodman product like Daklan but Rheem and Ruud are a very close second, the 2 things I like best about Rheem and Ruud are that the evaporator coils are shorter so we can get them into basements that have lower head room like a lot of the older houses in the area, and I like the heat exchangers they are very durable 2nd only two Amana with their heat exchangers

What's a single row condenser coil? I had a Rheem single stage from the 80s but bottom rusted out so love the new composit base. Thought I'd go with a Carrier but just learned they have the aluminum microtube fins in the heat pump, seeing many cos going this route, even with many complaints. Trane having conversion kits to replace these with copper coils. Supposed to be easily damaged, so looking at a Rheem with a single row condenser coil.

We finished our basement, growing our square footage by around 50%. Also replaced a builder-basic AC with a ultra-efficient 20+ SEER Rheem for both our main and basement levels, with zoning and dampers so that one unit can control both floors independently. Our electric bills are equal to those we paid when we did not use our basement for living space! Furnace is also so much more efficient. We’re sold on the brand. The 20+ SEER systems are slow to cool, so not for those who are constantly raising-lowering temperature throughout the day, but if you live in the Deep South and are using AC constantly in summer, a no brainer.

@@NewHVACGuide my company has done Ruud for the past 3 years I want to say. The only issues we’ve had out of them in 3 years is 2 defrost boards. We’ve had a few other issues but it’s mostly installation error, improperly supported exhaust on high efficiency furnace tripping a water sensor on the furnace, a few expansion valves from a big job we did but I came to the conclusion they failed due to the person who brazed the copper in. Most of the issues have been self inflicted issues, like I said the only 2 issues we have had in a little over 3 years is 2 defrost boards. We have done Bryant/Carrier/Goodman in the past. All of those had minimal issues on their ends as well. Bryant/Carrier for me is just unpleasant to work on, whether it being installing them or servicing them. Goodman’s I know get a bad rep, but I’ve not had many issues with those either the ones we have put in over the years, easy to work on. I’d say what pushed me away from them was learning more and gaining more knowledge and just feeling they skimp out on some aspects they shouldn’t if that makes sense

Im skeptical that they're gonna start using LG Compressors in some of the condenser models ("to keep up with Compressor demand").My whole HVAC department was like: uh. Wut mf? And the warranties are gonna be the same? HHMMMH. Great video! We deal Rheem, love that super easy take apart condenser design . Inverter tech and boards are very interesting to me but we're all still figuring those out for troubleshooting. Very extensive, wire tracing skills must be immaculate. 😅 Haven't had the chance to use the app with the new SEER equipment for service calls or inspections but very simple to use. Econet TESP at Tstat is almost always needed to be double checked by manual testing at furnace. But almost everything else is soooo niiice about Rheem comfort wise, convenience wise, and 90% tech friendly . Live in Colorado with very thin air, so the OFMs get Choked real quick, and leak oil. (Circuit board placement adds a few extra minutes to pulling blow. Super annoying )

I had an older Lennox system installed in 1993. It was a pretty good system but the installers failed to install a filter drier. I use to work for a Lennox dealer in the 80’s and the only thing that I noticed is that the condensing units would get leaks on the braze joints and the suction line copper failed on my own Lennox unit. My neighbor said it was Chinese copper. Nowadays, I hear people complaining about Lennox evaporator coil leaks. My Lennox coil never had any issues for 27 years but my neighbors had leaks in their Lennox coils.

Copper is a disinfect whereas aluminum doesn't.. Cooper is much better material. In my opinion aluminum is marketed as this revolutionary thing. Ita corporate giants selling a products for the same but they have reduced the manufacturing. Ultimately it's not as a good good copper Coil. I dont belive that the masses are changing all aluminum because it's better for the consumer. It's cheaper from to make. That's the bottom line.

@@jackson12802 Rheem , Carrier is ok as long you don’t go high efficiency. 15-16 SEER I would recommend. I personally am not big fan of Trane now. Definitely stay away from Goodman products. These new high efficiency u it’s are great and sound well on a paper and some will work well for some years. But as they age repairs and diagnostics can be a pain and sometimes people end up waiting on parts for weeks or even month or so. I am in the HVAC field myself and could install anything I wanted to when I installed new unit in my own house. I chose 16 SEER Carrier heat pump unit. Not complicated and easy to fix if something goes wrong with it. Companies will talk many people into high efficiency systems ,but for that it will have to be installed correctly and you will need PROPER DUCTWORK if you wanna get efficiency that they are selling.
