@@Koko3op 😂😂 that’s fair! I’m a MV storyteller so even though that’s valid I saw side b with no side a and hurt a lil in my spirit. I agree with everything you said on these girls though. Phenomenal I have not seen this sort of commitment to storytelling and thinking outside the box in a kpop groups before and I’ve been here for a long time. Even vocally they’re starting at a good place and granted because they’re so young imagine where they can grow from here! Get up teased what they can do in the future very promising!!

"Get up, watch it be 2 minutes long as well" 🤡 I threw my phone when I found out "Get Up" was only 30 seconds long. Like that's maniacal and villainous. I hope it's true that they're exploring that sound next comeback. A lot of their choreo has sections where they are all executing a move differently, which adds to the "casual" vibe they have. Danielle and Hanni definitely stand out with their dancing, and Minji is close behind them when she is really locked in.

They dont miss for me! Whole album has been on replay!! Their mvs are so good! Their choreos are my favorite! Their vocals just put me in a trance. That " just for a minute" in ASAP takes me to heaven every time and its so good when performed live!!!! And the choreo to Cool with you is my absolute fav its so artsy and beautiful. They did a performance where they all had their hair down and wavy and its just so nice aesthetically to see them matching like that! Of course the asap mv came out today after you upload this. Get up being an interlude is literally a crime!!!

ASAP mv was just posted today lol. The album is basically an experiment and Hanni said Get Up interlude is an appetizer for the next cb so I'm hoping there's a full version that they're hiding. I think it was a risky play by ador to have the anticipated 1st anniversary comeback to be this experimental but it works, as much as I was a bit disappointed with ASAP, a couple listens and hearing the live version on IU's Palette, also realizing ASAP is an outro for the album, I can say all the songs are bangers, it's just the expectations from the teasers that put me off. ASAP is kinda hypnotizing and the mv make's me question if I'm high. Hopefully you like the album as well and continue to tune in with newjeans.

If you listen to Baltimore club music the beat and the horn is a constant in that sound and fits the whole vibe of the song with the bpm

The girls have said that asap is a track that they made in order to make people feel like they should stay tuned for the other album and get up is an interlude that the girls say represent their future music which also would make more wait for their next album

According to Ador, Cool with You is like the modern adaption of the Greek myth of Eros and Psyche. Basically on the first mv (Side A), Hoyeon (girl from Squid game), who is portrayed as Eros (aka Cupid), is first seen following other people and making them fall in love with each other, by matching them up. As someone with "god-like" status, she can't fall in love with humans. But when she sees Micol (the guy Hoyeon is with in the mv), portrayed as Psyche, she becomes starstruck, as if she fell in love in first sight. She then ends up following Micol everywhere, but he can't see her because of their status (her being god and him a mortal). In the end of Side A, Hoyeon is seen stripped bare under the rain, which symbolizes her giving up her "godly" status, for Micol. In Side B, Hoyeon basically gave up her identity to be with Micol, hence why a lot of the scenes are basically just both of them doing couple things and being in love with each other. But towards the end of the MV, the sidewalk scene, Tony (the older guy behind Micol) reminds Hoyeon of her "godly" status, and basically tried putting her back in her place, by making Micol fall in love with someone else, in front of her. It broke her heart, but she realized he was right, and sadly she didn't have a choice, so she went back to being Cupid again. As for NewJeans, they're basically "guardian angels" who witnessed everything that had happened in both MVs.

Silver fox in "Cool with You" is Shang Chi's daddy/HK movie legend Tony Leung. Him in Wong Kar Wai(?) films? Smoldering. Back to NJ, I'd love even a snippet of them live harmonizing. I know it's rare in kpop, but feel like they've matured and want to hear it acapella.

Okay they were just on IU's Pallete show. Dani and my fave Hanni harmonized nicely on "ASAP". And I reallly appreciate Hyein's vocal texture on "Get Up". Was very nice!

I also says it has cross over appeal but I wouldn’t say it’s specifically marketed towards older people in terms of the styling, choreo etc is my point. A lot of K-pop isn’t, it’s for a younger demo. Of course others who aren’t the target audience can still enjoy the music, I certainly do.

Like you, my personal taste lies elsewhere but I think NewJeans are the only girl group right now that has a chance to replicate Blackpink's global success. Mind you, that's always going to be tough as BTS/BP's success also had a lot to do with timing, that may not come around again. We will see if YG still has any new ideas with BabyMonster later on

i understand that the brass makes ETA sound more urgent like it plays into the story but its so distracting like it genuinely makes me so nervous

I just had to come and see what you thought of ETA and it’s kind of interesting that you didn’t mind them repeating ETA 3 times but when XG repeated New Dance you kept saying oh it’s too repetitive. I mean you can definitely be critical about it, but at least be consistent. Because you obviously don’t have a problem with repetitive words, just XG’s New Dance repetition.

I don't really get why people want NJ to comeback with something new and different like COME ON they're barely 1 YEAR old kpop.
