"It really doesn't just say, does it.." (min 16:07) --> This convinced me that this is one of the better study bibles out there at present (April 2020), along with other glowing praises by others. Thank you!

Thanks! I have collected some good study editions, and this one leaves me conflicted. It's so heavy and bulky that it's literally a pain to use, and if I want to consult an NIV that is easier to use, I just reach for the paperback NIV study bible that is just easier to read and easier to use. However, I love what this one above is TRYING to do with the single column text and the tri-column notes. Also, the biblical theology category (it's not systematic or dogmatic) is a fascinating way to organize the commentary around the categories of Biblical themes (sin, redemption, kingdom, etc. but told from an inductive viewpoint rather than a deductive or systematic way). When I was in seminary my advisor implied to me that biblical theology is for Bible geeks and systematic theology is for logic / philosophy minds, and some people are more interested in the Bible and some people are more interested in doctrine, and this is a Bible's Bible, even the theology is Bible theology, not philosophical theology. Let the Bible speak for itself. And biblical theology is revealed and unwrapped slowly, so as you time travel from the beginning to the end, the nature of doctrines emerges from Hebrew to Aramaic to Greek, for example, sin in the earliest literature was like a weight, or a burden you carried around on your back, that weighs you down, but then the Babylonian exile and the rise of the Persian empire and Aramaic comes along and the language used to describe sin becomes more like a debt than a weight, so that your sins enslave you in debtor's prison. In the Lord's prayer, it's forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors in the Greek. It's nice to know the progression of how sin affects you, it's both a heavy burden on your soul (Hebrew) and a debt bondage that requires someone to pay your debts for you because you're in so deep you're drowning in debt. I love Biblical theology! Thanks for the nice videos! The Bible also has beautiful fonts or type face, so it's pretty. The pictures and charts are also great. You may need a magnifying glass for the notes at the bottom of the page, and a crane to lift it off your desk. And for all of its weight, I would have liked to seen any NIV publisher include the Apocrypha because when you study Biblical theology, a ton of Biblical theology emerges and develops in the century BEFORE Christ, when Israel was invaded by the most evil, the most tyrannical, the most profane and wicked person in the BIble - Antiochus IV Epiphanes, who called himself God and butchered a pig on the altar. Most of the apocrypha comes from the drama surrounding this terrible invasion and the revolt that it sparked.

Their love of money Pastor. The Niv bible itself is a horrible translation and it's a top seller. I will stick with my kjv thompson chain bible which I think is the best study bible there is. Local Bible publishers has the finest there is and the iorned calf skin just excellent. God bless you Pastor. Keep up the excellent reviews +

hi pastor, which is better in theology study content, the Theology Study NIV Bible or Systematic Theology ESV Bible? Is the KJV Full Color bible in any way comparable to theology content? Sometimes its a struggle to get a study bible I really like because its not in KJV, or NKJV atleast. :( Thank you.

Hi Pastor Steve, I'm a beginner/born again . I'm torn on which bible to get . I'm drawn to the pics in this bible, also the niv translation is easier for me to understand. But the leadership in my church suggest ESV study bible. I can read the translation. Do you know a bible a bible that is packed full of information and pics that is a word for word translation? I'm overwhelmed which bible to get.

Let me spare you from this guy. NRSV has always been the preferred version for scholars. This study bible is best for scholars. It puts great emphasis on research from biblical scholars, archeologists, and historians.

Its not in the NRSV. I’m not following your thought. I really like a lot of DA Carson however. God bless!
