I like the Thompson Chair Reference too. When I was 14 in the 1980's a couple from church gave me a leather KJV TCR which I carried through high school and wore it out. I just bought the new TCR in the NIV and am enjoying using it.

@Frank Schipani.... this note is regards to your comment in regards to wearing out your leather TCR KJV bible... was it "genuine leather"..?.. or "bonded leather"...?..cuz I have had several bonded leather bibles wear out on me over the years... just by normal opening and shutting them... over a period of time.. the material of the cover starts flaking and cracking.. and getting very weather worn looking... but of my "genuine leather ".. ones.. I have Never had this happen... I imagine... all my "genuine leather".. covered ones will still be here even 200 years after I am gone..my wife DID have a bible that fell apart on her... but she used to drop hers a lot... and so the pages and binding ..became loose and weakened..

I am not sure... who copied who... but I have discovered a lot of the same charts are used in the Dakes and the Thompsons bibles..such as the charts showing the tabernacle etc..

Your videos have been helpful for me. I have read through the Henry Morris s.b. and when I watched this video today, I realized this must have been due to your introduction in one of your videos. It was a couple of years ago now and it took me a year, but I so enjoyed that bible. Last year I read Dake (wow what a Bible also but a little heavy packed for daily use may be). And this year Im reading the ESV s.b. One thing that strikes me compared to the Henry Morris s.b. is that the ESV s.b. has more material, but often when I look to the notes for information on a passage there’s nothing on what I’m looking for. A little disappointing on such a huge bible actually. The Henry Morris was opposite. It has less information, but still often answered just the questions that I had. I got a feeling I had a pastor/teacher on my shoulder when reading that Bible. Wonderful feeling. That said I think he’s wrong on the gifts of the Spirit, but otherwise this has been the Bible I have felt the most love for reading through. But it’s thick 😊

I do like Dake's study bible in so many ways. I don't agree with Dake and his idea the law is done away with since Jesus own words say he didn't come to do away with the law, and that until heaven and earth pass away not one jot or tittle of his word will pass away. However I love the other info he has.

@@brendakauffman2222 I know this note is about 2 years late,.. sorry about that... in regards to Dake's... when I first got saved or shortly after I got a couple of Dake's .. a Lg print and a regular.. one.. but the Lg print was too hefty to carry around and the genuine leather covers on both were so course.. and no matter what I tried I could not get them to soften up.. that I just set them aside only looking at them occasionally for referencing...plenty of notes... but around a year ago or so... I ended up buying a 6th printing one.. on e bay... and this one has a cover that feels so soft to the touch almost like lamb or goat skin. .and and so now.. Dakes has become my main bible.. I enjoy the notes.. but we have to be careful.. since Dakes believes in things like the gap theory.. and has some other notions... so although it is the bible I mainly read from.now .. I have to be careful.. on some of his notes..

The Chronological Life Application Study Bible is awesome! I have the NLT Translation but also want to get the KJV Translation. The Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible (NRSV Translation) is also excellent! Of course the Life Application Study Bible is the best in any Translation and in any Edition -- 1st, 2nd or 3rd. I also have several Scofield Study Bibles and the Tony Evans Study Bible (CSB), the Holman KJV Full Color Study Bible, Charles Stanley Life Principles Study Bible (NASB, NIV, & NKJV). My FAVORITE KJV Bible is on your list: the Life in the Spirit Study Bible. What a great Spirit-filled Bible! I’m not Pentecostal but I was baptized in a Pentecostal Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in the Snake River in 1981 when I was 7 (!), and love the content of this Bible. My second is Thomas Nelson’s Full Colored KJV Study Bible. I’m at a disadvantage however, is I don’t have a Thompson’s. Thanks for the video!

@Winnie Spencer I know this note is a little late.. finding you so I apologize... the first rendition of the "Life in the Spirit " bible was published.. as the "Full Life"... bible around 1991.. and dedicated to Donald Stamp.. a main editor of it... who passed away sometime before the completion of it...the Layout and Font size and print is way better in this "full life".. bible.. even though both bibles are the same notes... the "Life in the Spirit".. bible was also published... as the "Spirit filled Life"... bible as well... same notes but again a slightly different lay out page wise than the "Life in the Spirit".. bible..then. around.. 2010 or so. .this bible was re created... I am Not sure by which publisher... but it was called the "Fire Bible..." so if you ever have issues with trying to find another copy of "Life in the Spirit".. you will find this "Fire Bible".. to be the exact same bible.. but.. they went back to the original layout and fonts of the original "Full Life"... bible of the 90's which I like best... But.. be careful.. there are two different publishers publishing a bible under this title.. the one I am talking about is the one NOT published by Hendricksen.. that one is completely different...

The Schofield has a special place in my heart. The first bible I bought after I was saved was the sword study bible, loved it but shortly after I bought a Scofield and read it for years. Just bought the Ryrie to try it out and as soon as I read through it I won't pick it up again. I ran from Scofield because I was tired of him trying to say he had a better translation in some places, well Ryrie is 5 times worse. That being said Most of Ryries notes are great and the layout is fantastic and there is a lot of information in there. I think I'm going to the common man's or the Ruckman. Two people I know will not challenge the scripture the way it is written. Thank you for your video and God bless.

I saw your original review of it and believe that it has so many valuable tools to study the scriptures. I have not been able to find a copy of the Dugan version.

Mine , faithlife , because I can take it on my phone, read it on breaks . But we do have archeological NIV and application NIV. Bought our son ESV archeological ( NIV is better) our nephew ( in prison) cultural background NIV, thought it would be easier to read for him but he sent it home to his mom because it wasn't a KJV .Bought our daughter a NET ,not a study Bible but she always wants to do one more up on her brother. I don't think either one of them have opened them up yet.

It appears as though it had to be a Study Bible and King James Version to make the list! I have seriously been thinking about replacing the Life Application Study Bible I had years ago with the newer printing of it. I loved that Bible so much and used it as my go to Bible at home because my church was using the NIV at that time. I watched someone review a large print Life Application not too long ago so I'm hoping I can find one in the KJV to add to my growing library of Study Bibles. Thank you for this list. I plan to watch reviews on two or three that piqued my interest.

well naturally... KJV.. if you watch very many of pastor Steve's videos you will realize he is a KJV only ist... he has done several sermons and made some videos pointing out.. how the modern translations fall short in rendering God's word properly... I would suggest that if you are seriously reading any other translation of God's word than the KJV.. that you would prayerfully consider... watching some of pastor's videos...

Dake is my first. Then the next one 8s the ESV study Bible. The the Amplified Bible. Then I have The Vine's Coplete Expository Dictionary. Then my last reference is the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of The Bible.

I like what you said in this video about your top 10 favorite study Bibles.Of these only one of the Bibles that you listed is on your honorable mention list the Ryrie Study Bible,although I didn't like his comment on what is known as the Johannine Comma.I have a Thompson Chain Reference Bible which was given to me by a christian friend I supposed because of the print size.However Thompson's statement in the Analyses of Books on Revelation although its unclear I think one can say he is not premil and pretrib which is what I like about the Ryrie Study Bible and Macarthur Study Bible.

possibly the Holman did Not make it.. because in some ways it is similar to the Nelson's... but with different notes... I have found that the Holman notes seem to be less conservative than the Nelson notes but that is just my opinion...

If only they would update the Dickson analytical SB in text block. The Ryrie study Bible got me through college in the 1980’s. But I think that the busyness of our study Bibles takes . But to settle on desert island study bible- The NKJV Thompson Chain.

Pastor Steve I have a suggestion. Have you ever thought about rating every study Bible that you review on a scale from 1 to 10? 10 being the highest? One you can rate a 6.25, another 9.50, another 7.75 etc? I'm a big ratings mark🤣

Hello I have a quick question what's the difference between the mev, ESV, and Kjv fire bible compared to the NIV fire bible global study edition? The global study edition has 2784 pages and it's roughly 2.5 inches thick it's built like a tank I don't know if you have ever heard of it but why does it have so many pages does it have more information and study notes compared to the other fire bible translations I mentioned I want to buy it but it says it's out of print and the leather bound version of the global study edition is running for 300 right now on eBay probably cause it's out of print I suppose. Anyways if you have any information on the fire bible global study edition I would really love to hear it thanks take care and God bless bye 😊

Hi Pastor Steve, im sorry to pose my question to you here but I wanted to ask it in your most recent vudeo post to increase the chances of you seeing it and hopefully answering it. I stumbled upon your channel because I am searching for a KJV reference/study bible and I've enjoyed watching your reviews of various ones. Given your expertise on the subject, could you recommend one where the notes support Moses as the sole author of Genesis, supports the fallen angels belief for genesis 6 and has a map of the exodus that actually has Moses and God's people crossing the Red Sea instead of going around it at the northern tip? I understand that these issues are not detrimental to ones salvation but it would be nice to have a study bible where the author is coming from the same literal biblical beliefs that i have. Thank you so much and God bless you and your ministry.

Would trying to read 3 study bibles at one time be to much? I want to read the notes one chapter at a time ( one old and one new testament per sitting) on the westminster study bible(kjv), holman full color(kjv) and the Nelson study bible( nkjv)but it seems like trying to eat a elephant like a owl eats a tootsie pop( 3licks). How would you go about this?

You “use study Bibles for the notes and information”, I didn’t see the ESV Study Bible, do you consider it to be lacking in notes and information or was it not listed because it isn’t KJV? I use various study Bibles regardless of the translation/version. BTW, I think all of the Bible’s you listed are excellent.

It would be most useful if there was a link to a list of study bibles recommended, with authors and printers names.... I can then research myself to find which one is most useful for me, and to ferret out ones with authors who have questionable theology... @K Dobermann I know this note is a little late... but I can tell you from my experience... that the Nelson study bible from Jerry Falwell.. is an excellent bible... other trustworthy bibles.. are the Henry Morris study bible... the Matthew Henry study bible.. I am recommending these because they are KJV... and I only trust the KJV translation....Scofield is fairly good.. .Dakes is ok... Thompson chain reference is ok.. . i have not really used the Ryrie too much so I cannot offer my opinion of that one... I have been disappointed...in several... either due to their biases or lack of study notes... here are ones I would say to buy at your own risk... the Jimmy Swaggart study bible heavily opinionated Charles Spurgeon thin .... .note wise Open bible... good notes in places.... but Not a lot around the verses at least Not for a study bible...IMO

Hello pastor very important question does the net full notes bible have more study notes than the dake? I called christian book and they said the net does since it has 60,0000 and dake has 35000 do you agree with them or disagree I own both but to me it looks like the dake has more which bible do you think has more notes let me know God bless bye 😊

@Brandon Priske in answer to your question to Pastor regarding the Dakes compared to the NET... bible...the NET bible has a lot of notes... perhaps they both have the same ... .amount wise... but it is like comparing apples to oranges... yes these are both fruit.. just as the 2 bibles you mentioned are both bibles... but they each have a different flavor .. if you know what I mean... where as Dakes.. relies a lot on listing things concisely out.. by topics.. and is a great bible to use.. if teaching a class for example on "love".. or "forgiveness".. Dakes will break things like this down with references.. and reviews and lists... the NET... is more of a verse by verse.. study note bible that presents the Hebrew and Greek tenses and forms of the words used... and explains why certain words were used or chosen in it's translation... both are excellent bibles to use for studying.. but.. both are completely different in their approach to breaking down of scripture...

I know this video was made a couple of years back but I happened to be watching it again.... just to hear your viewpoints.. on various study bibles... and I had a question... Are there KJV study bi les.. from John MacArthur and Max Lucado..?... cuz... I have not seen these... I know the last time I read Max Lucado... he was using the NKJV for reference in his literature... and MacArthur.. as far as I know has study bibles available in the NASB... ESV... NKJV...but I have not yet seen a KJV MacArthur one...

Hey pastor I just came to a bible I've never heard or seen before the net full notes bible by Thomas Nelson I bought it yesterday for about 15 dollars flat after tax plus free shipping hardcover edition on Amazon anyways wow it says it has over 60,0000 notes!!!! Just by looking at the reviews on KZbin I think that's the closest study bible I've seen to the dake I still think the dake has just a tad bit more but it's close but I do think that the net bible has more notes by far than the perry stone bible I'm really shocked by how many notes the net bible has if I had to guess that might be the 2nd bible in the world with the most notes just behind the dake I do think net has more than the Dugan and perry stone bible I own the Dugan and the perry stone bible and I would have to say just by the reviews that I've seen the net has more but I don't think it has more than the dake people will disagree with me but some of the pages in the net have very little or no notes at all from the reviews I've seen theirs very and I mean very few pages like that from the net by what people have said concerning the net but none the less the dake has information like that on every single page plus the notes continued pages after each book so that's why I say the dake has more but the net sure gave the dake a run for it's money wow blessings bye

I would never count this as one of my main bibles either...due to the translation of the bible text...

(if you dare).... a parallel bible containing the KJV. NASB..NIV..ESV if you can find one... I am sure that would be enough to send most running to the KJV...I have a few such as one with the NLT and KJV... and another with the KJV NLT...NKJV...and the RSV...but with that first one I mentioned one could really see how different the ESV is even from the NASB.. or how the NIV is different from the NASB.. and especially the KJV and NASB.... the bibles YOU mentioned.. are too close in most parts to really see much of a difference,,.. so I do Not see the point... the MEV.. is supposedly a modernized translation of the KJV.. only slight changes there...as is the NKJV. perhaps a few more changes from the KJV than the MEV..... and the NKJV and MEV... do not deviate from the KJV as much as the ones I cited...

@@jeffcarlson3269 What does it matter what some "think"? Some 'thought' that Jesus had a demon. John 8.48. He didn't. The NWT isn't. And when you write the NWT have "omitted" verses you do not cite which ones and I suspect other translation committees have done likewise. Also if you look at the original Hebrew or Greek and the NWT renderings rather than comparing the NWT with other Bible translations, as I suspect you're doing, you will discover that the NWT's are accurate. Your comments tell your readers of you more about **your prejudices** than anything about the NWT! Try again.

I have read thru the NWT on several occasions...and have noted where the verses have just Not been there.. and I have looked at the Hebrew Greek interlinear bible.. to see what the original stated and found the verses there... I do not just say things to start trouble.. the following is just a sampling of verses skipped by the NWT which most bibles DO NOT SKIP.. and these are in the original manuscripts.. Matthew 17:21....18:11....23:14 Mark 7:16....9:44-456....11:26....15:28 Luke 17:36...23:17 John 5:4.... Acts 8:37 I have No ulterior motive for passing this information on to you other than to help you see that the NWT.. is NOT a very good translation.. I DO believe that the ones behind the NWT.. have ulterior motives.... however in Not including these verses when they are definitely in the originals....

@@newworldtranslation1162 AND what are you basing your claim on "that other committees have done likewise"?... because that is what the NWT claims.. in their intros?.. now I have a question for you ... can you show me which verses the KJV or NASB..NKJV.. ESV... have omitted... by their committees? the only other translation I can partly see your point with is the NIV.. which I also believe to be inaccurate

@@newworldtranslation1162 I will grant you that the NKJV is partly corrupt... because it tends to either bracket off these verses.. or places a footnote on them... denoting that these verses were Not in some manuscripts... BUT.. yet these verses ARE in some other manuscripts .... the NKJV is a bad translation because it calls into question which manuscripts are the most accurate.. thereby causing doubts..
