I was going through some old video and noticed a commercial for Yume Kojo '87! When I looked closer, I noticed that this commercial was something I had not seen before! So, let me share it!
If you have time after that, why not watch the two videos I made about Yume Kojo in the past?
What Was Yume Kojo? (2016 version) • What Was Yume Kojo? or...
Dream Machine (2022 version) • Dream Machine: The Com...

What makes GTV stand out from so many other channels is that you actually live in Japanand so can tap into the ninutiae of primary sources that everyone relying on reading secondhand articles can't replicate.

I will add my two cents: I also hate people taking the US as the saint or the default of videogames, if Nintendo of America doesn't do something it gets ignored by a lot of people or when they talk about popular games is always in the US perspective and not the Japan perspective too, seeing how Nintendo is based on Japan. Of course not all do this, but the number is high enough for me to notice.

@@fixedfunshowwell, for a time we were both in our own worlds initially! What Japan did was in Japan and what USA did was USA. Atari only named themselves "Atari" because the company's owner thought it sounded Japanese! As well as Atari being the face of video games in the USA! Even I never knew or thought(even back when they were new) that Space Invader's and Pac-Man were made in Japan! I know better than that now, but I was just a kid when they came out back then! As I was born in 1977! So knowing what I know now, I respect the Japanese for their contributions and culture! I just wish I could actually get my passport and take my seizure meds to Japan and visit! So I can get it off my bucket list! 😉😉 When I DO go to Japan I want to go to two or three prefectures/cities… Akihabara, Kyoto and maybe Edo… the last one because of the history of Japan! 😉😉

@fixedfunshow me too. I hate it when American is seen as synonymous with "Western" and all the other different countries are thus taken as being like America

Many Japanese do that. They see a non Asian face and bingo you’re automatically a hamburger eating yankee cowboy. 🤠 however I often have people ask me if I’m Canadian or British. Probably because I’m polite well dressed and not 300 lbs

Yeah I thought so too. The voice over covers the start so all I can hear is ています I think it says あなたのローソン which makes sense. Family mart is called anata no konbini. But my ears just can’t confirm it
@AlanJones1984
@AlanJones1984 Жыл бұрын
@@GTV-Japan I'm 99% sure it says 空いてますあなたのローソン and my wife (who is Japanese - I live in Japan, too) says it does to. I'm assuming it was the company tagline at the time, so if another Lawson ad from '87 was checked, it could probably be easily confirmed.

Do you get most of your Japanese commercial clips from KZbin or another internet source, or did your family tape all of these back in the 1980s and 1990s if they were living in Japan...or if not either of these, how do you come across them generally? I guess "newly discovered" for this one would mean that it's not likely on KZbin, but I often wonder how such videos are discovered.

A convenience store similar to 7-Eleven or Circle-K. Lawson was founded in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, USA in 1939 by dairy owner J.J. Lawson. Sometime after Lawson folded in 1985 in the United States and sold most of their American locations to Circle-K, their international locations, including those found in Japan, continued to soldier on under new ownership for a long time after their exit from the United States (much like Woolworth Mexico, Sears Mexico, Toys "R" Us Canada and Kmart Australia, for example, all of which were started by American companies, or started by American companies as a joint venture with another international retailer, like in Kmart Australia's case, a joint venture between S.S, Kresge Co. of the U.S. and Coles New World Supermarkets of Australia from 1969-1994, before being sold off). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawson_(store) Lawson is planning a return to the United States, starting with a few locations in Hawaii before opening stores in the lower 48 and Alaska...
