@cacatr44954 жыл бұрын
Then 9 years old, youngster Faa Mai is the one that lifts her right front foot, standing on three legs and pausing, next to Lek. Faa Mai is deep in thought, pondering something that newcomer Ploy Thong conveyed to her in those minutes. I wonder if it was about the suffering Ploy Thong had known in her earlier life, or if it was about the calf that was taken from Ploy Thong. Faa Mai has never known suffering at the hands of man, but doubtless has heard about it from newcomers and the older elephants that were rescued to come there. I'm sure that such thoughts would be baffling to Faa Mai, given that she's only known joy, and never sorrow. Most certainly, elephants do "talk", they do communicate and in detail. There's much evidence for exactly that.

Lek was standing next to then-9 year old youngster Faa Mai who was born there; Lek wasn't standing next to the older, blind newcomer, Ploy Thong, inside the corral. But Lek rides in the back of the truck with many (or maybe all) of the rescue elephants, so they've already met and gotten acquainted to some degree. Lek isn't brave, per se, but is knowledgeable and can read them with a sensitive heart and an attentive eye. Love and attention goes a long way that bravery can't.

@@snugbug5067 I have lost my enthusiasm for TES. Carol's original vision was to be able to provide for up to 100 elephants, but as they have died they have not been taking in more.
