@Young Lion Of JUDAH I think some animals are given gifts that we may take for granted. Elephants, as well as most intelligent animals, may have a sense about people and situations. The fact that the elephants waited seems to show they knew the humans were trying to help.

@@dixb.floppin798 I agree. The guy operated that machine like it was part of his hand. If you watch towards the end of the video, the operator was in an elevated position; he would not seen all that was below him. She says thank you, waits for a response. Nothing. She says it again. Still nothing. She turns to walk away but then decides, no, I want these people to know how grateful I am. Turns back around and with purpose and ceremony raises her trunk high into the air toward the rescuers. At which point they finally understand and call out to her, acknowledging the gesture so she can walk away edified. It's all as clear as day. Just mind-blowing.

The thing that amazes me the most about this is that the head elephant isn't just blindly waving their trunk and leaving. They actually wait for some sort of acknowledgement before you leaving. You can see the first "wave" at 2:53, 2:59, and 3:03 before he clearly holds his trunk up and doesn't put it down until they receive acknowledgement at 3:16. To be acutely aware of the actions (or lack thereof) of other species around them is not only intelligent but incredibly perceptive.

Elephants, tigers, birds , snakes are all sacred as per our traditions and we see love and gratitude in all these creatures. People greatly overestimate the separation between animals and man. We are still very primitive creatures, with very primitive emotions. Yes we are flying into space, and have internet, however everything we have, was built upon the shoulders of those that came before us. Complex language, the ability to pass down ideas and record information these are the things that got us to where we are. If you take modern day humans and raise them without these things, to place them in the wild, not one of them would conceive the idea of sharpening a stick with a stone to create a spear. That was the Einstein of that generation. The humans raised this way would be indistinguishable from the animals around it to the average observer. As for emotions, where do you think we get them from? they obviously evolved. Fear (self-preservation) would of been the first useful emotion to evolve. The reward mechanisms, encouraging the desire to procreate. The foundations of love, to protect ones young. More complex 'newer' emotions developing through social animals, jealousy, anxiety etc. We like to pretend that we are high and mighty, and so far beyond the natural world. But in truth we are not too dissimilar.

Beautiful. From the people that saved the elephant, to the herd that clearly offers some note of gratitude with the raised trunk at the people... And then when the people cheered... It was clear, that the elephanst and the humans all knew that they had doone a gesture of good to each other. Absolutely beautiful.

Perhaps so, perhaps not. We must be careful to not ascribe human motivations to the actions of non-humans.

Rex Luminus Pardon me for being reality-based. Just because something feels good or right, that doesn't make it factual. I know that elephants are highly intelligent; that much is obvious. That does not make them human.

Saw a very similar video of a baby elephant trapped in some hole at a Safari in Afrika. The team used exact machinery to rescue her in front of the whole family of elephants. When she was free; baby elephant didn't wanna leave the rescue team even though they were releasing and directing her to Mom and fam - instead was hugging and leaning on the team members; when she finally joined the family - then the whole family lifted their trunks in appreciation. Guess it's a sign of appreciation when they lift their trunk like that...well done to these Heroes!

It is so sad to finally see that animals sometimes are even more thankful than most of humans are. By the way, for the very person who has saved this little elephant's life, I wish you nothing but "God Bless You", bro. At the very least, one of nice people left in this world truly truly exists. Good job.

Alot of People are really nice and good in their heart but can't show because there are different opinions about good or not good, so that when someone thinks he's doing nice, there are usually people who think different and the negative experience stays more than the Gratefulness of the ones who think positive about it. That way we stop ourselves a little bit to evolve into more positive thinking.

But there is no easy way around and it's not rly that bad how it is, we just need to try to keep our own judging in our own mind or share the bad emotions with a small circle, so we can let out our bad site/feelings and maybe try to see why it was good what someone else did. It's more of how we humans feel than what the best logical solution is to something, and to let those Systems Work together we need to decide and relearn some emotions, and evaluating things different. Just wanted to let out my thoughts:)

@@heni63 don't get me wrong, lemme get straight to this little good-shit, I ain't tryna tell noone else I'm some kinda good person 'cause I believe nobody's perfect. But, I'm used to thinking if we can help other people with selfless act, it could be your own family, friend, or stranger, just do it. Why not? Helping people by expecting nothing in return is such a nice thing to do. I bet you have already known how it feels like to treat people like we would like to be treated. Does it not really feel good? Life is full of little "Unthankful reactions", but it's all right though. You know what, of all the people that have been a part of my daily life, according to my own experience, most of them are unthankful. However, hell yeah it's OK, I'm fine with it, nothing to argue when I know this kinda stuff is just a human nature. My heart says, OK, cool, go for it. Whatever we do, I believe there is the law of cause and effect. Being "Unthankful" to people who are nice to me is something I really really stay away from. I don't impuse my personal opinion on things I don't know a lot about, I don't mean to be no judge, either, 'cause I hate to waste my time by talking way too far. Like I said before, I still believe there is still nice people left in this world, well, what to discuss? Nothing ! I perfectly am able to control my own emotions, young lady. Don't worry about it😊 to get self-control or behave calmly even if something unplanned happens to me I think is a must, I'm not that ghetto. There is so much to learn. By the way, I love your advice. It helps me a lot become even more grown-up person than I do right now. I'm less educated than you. Thank you for sharing your opinions.

odd statement. i can’t imagine a mother being as equally or more thankful if her child were rescued from a ditch where the alternative is dying by starving to death and lonely
