I was there! Great GREAT concert, I came from Spain by my own for this. I was adopted the whole night by a group of very friendly english guys and girls, lucky me. LOVE MANCHESTER, LOVE NEW ORDER!!!

They always do 2-3 Joy Division tracks for the encore & as a tribute to Ian Curtis.

Utterly dreadful! I have no problem with New Order, but let’s face it, Barney is hopeless at singing Ian Curtis’s songs, he is not a baritone, which it does need to be, unless you totally reinterpret the music. At which point I would argue that Hooky needs to just do JD stuff and possibly the first NO album and Barney and Morris and Gillian stick to NO stuff.

Surely the fragility of his voice mirrors that of Curtis. That is the point for me.

@@transeuropa just sounds badly out of tune to me, without the real emotional weight and register of Curtis’ voice. Curtis had a crooning voice, a la Sinatra, Dean Martin etc. Barney’s voice is weak. Sounds like an average covers band.
