Why does the Chief ask for specific things from specific towns…like why doesn’t a 2nd alarm just get transmitted, take the stress off of the chief…why isn’t that predetermined? I don’t understand that…

As indicated earlier regarding Command telling FA who to respond doesn't FA dispatcher have a run card? Also, a "small" fire? Is or isn't. Given the life hazard why not strike a 2nd alarm upon arrival? Just curious 🤔.

A lot of arguing going on here in the comments. The one thing I have an issue with is the urgent request for the fast team. Maybe a little more clear on the communications as Eng 5 essentially was calling a mayday. Somehow one of the members was outside and he was the reason they activated the fast team. Good thing the fast team did not go in as there was a stability issue from the report of Eng 5. I get it that other people want to argue about other issues but a missing member with the request for the fast team by far out ways any other argument in the comments. Just glad the member was located outside and why he broke away from his crew is another argument in itself lol.

Massive failure to get resources to the fire. Then, they failed to get the guys out and there was a scare after a collapse. Then, after pulling everybody out, they only used ladder pipes and failed to use blitz/deck guns or hand lines, then failed to protect the main section of the building. They could have been so much more aggressive. Also.. why are we ordering a second alarm but then ordering specific pieces.

"you don't know" is the only accurate part of your argument. There was no possibility of extinguishing the fire, due to poor construction, and the chief refused second alarm, which is why he ordered specific equipment.

@@trevorwoolley7432 If you search for the reasons, you'll find there was a problem with spacing between floors, and pressure from source on all floors. They were forced to evacuate when they began falling through floors, and weren't making progress due to fire acceleration through inaccessible spaces.

Code red is pretty unique to RI, we never used that in CT
