There’s a neat detail I’m surprised wasn’t covered in this video. Alan Rickman knew many of the twists regarding Snape’s character that would come in the later books, and worked that into his performance. When Snape hears that a student has died, he rushes over in a panic and then visibly relaxes when he sees that it wasn’t Harry that died.
@nancyjay790Ай бұрын
Just an aside from when I saw Goblet in the cinema for the first time: in the scene where Ron and Harry are both trying to chuff each other up to get dates for the ball, and Snape comes up behind them the entire audience chuckled as soon as Alan Rickman tugged his sleeves before pushing hard on both boys' heads, then laughed really hard when he actually pushed on both boys. It's another example of Rickman making Snape a multi layered character who you could eventually believe would protect Harry.
@qofaconfirmationАй бұрын
The detail of Snape reaching out to touch Dumbledore's shoulder as the Headmaster crouches over Harry, then remembering that others are watching and yanking his hand away -- that gave me hope for Snape's character. If Alan Rickman had inside info that Snape was always working for bad things to happen and had no redeeming qualities, Rickman would not have done that.

I never understood why Sirius (and others) judged Barty Crouch Senior harshly for sending his own son to Azkaban?! Like he just found out his son was a wizard Nazi and instead of trying to make excuses or deals he’s like, “no, you’re no son of mine”. That’s based?
@curtiswfranksАй бұрын
And not just a Nazi supporter. He also committed maybe the single most horrific crime that we learn of in these books. The trials were not very fair and the prison system needs reform, but given an adjudication of Junior being guilty, harsh sentencing is totally just and awesome.

The Tri Wizard Cup was so fun to watch and the different schools coming to Hogwarts. Reminded me of myself since I played sports in high school and competed in tourneys. Then the Yule Ball was like the Winter Formal in High school for most of us here in America.. Then the big reveal of Lord Voldemort, the first 3 movies were just small hints of his return. Then boom he’s reincarnated & everything really shifts going into Order of Phoenix.

Is it "healthy?" Probably not. But it is something that happens and isn't anything worth going "eww" at? Certainly. Hope you and your writers never experience the kind of deep tragedy that either drives you mad or drives you closer to someone else. But please have a little empathy for those who have or will.

@@davidnewell3717don’t be correcting then only imply that it’s only a thing in one place. Beyond that do you put your toast on a rack before eating it at home? Because that’s just weird! It’s at restaurants and hotels we see this most often though since Hogwarts is essentially magic boarding school then it makes sense in that context too.

this just in, scone racks don't exist apparently. have you ever been to a hotel or a bakery?

@@spiderbug7615 it’s not a scone rack. It’s toast. Doesn’t matter what exists or not. The scene shows toast.
