It's going to be interesting to see them set up Onslaught when Magento rips out Wolverine's adamantium and Prof X wipes Magneto's mind in the next two episodes. With Asteroid M in the opening credits and Fatal Attractions from the comics being mentioned, it's set up perfectly for this arc. Next season will see Charles becoming more evil, while Wolverine recovers - maybe Silver Samurai becomes Logan's mentor like Stick did in the comics.

Truthfully it doesn't need that much buildup to just convey: mutants exist, they felt persecuted in their countries so they founded their own, then it got attacked, but it really does have a ton more emotional impact and meaning if it's built up over a couple movies before the tragedy. My earlier point to the OP was only that just because it's called an absolute point in an animated universe doesn't guarantee or require it to happen in live action. Absolute points just refer to things that happen in the universe that a time traveler cannot change, and those could be very different events or the same in different universes. The studio is also not going to handcuff themselves to having to depict that in their movie simply because another medium did it if it wasn't in the plans.

@@ArtofLunatik Onslaught is not in the Age of Apocalypse storyline. Also many cartoons / films have adapted the storyline. It's one of the most well known X-Men events in comics.
