fr this was nothing to applaud, he didn't make the culture or better he's not a better person for this, it's the opposite. It would've been healthy and he ruined it. No one was talking about beef. Now this means you can just talk and not take accountability, just throw punches, talk shit, and just take it back. How is that accountability. And the people just saying let it go he made his choice, that's too easy to just let people do stuff like that and not expect backlash. Esp when we there are certain rules and if you don't follow you are ruining the game for everyone, because this is a sport with rules and if you dont want to play fine, but get off the field. Simple.

The thing a lot of younger hip hop fans don’t understand is that the competition made rappers better. The reason you have guys like Lil baby who were on top of the world but now can’t rap his way out of a wet paper bag is because he doesn’t come from a culture that stresses needing to improve constantly. Even a guy like Gucci mane who isn’t the most lyrical still had that competitive spirit in his music which helped him sustain for much longer than the non lyrical rappers of today can. So yeah Cole taken the competition out is bad for rap and we need him to leave please.

One perspective about J Cole removing himself from the beef is that good/bad, hip hop is currently run by the younger generation now. Much like a lot of current society, they are redefining the meanings of things or revolutionizing the world the way they see it and in many ways, the world they want to see it. As an older person, I have learned that in order for things of the past to have a future, there are some aspects of the old that do change. In this case, it may be the competitive nature of hip hop. Much like the NBA where the majority of players are friends and lack the competitive nature of the 80’s-early 2000s. Many of these rap artists don’t engage the competition. Hell, much of the youth aren’t even good with face to face confrontation like we had to face when we were their age. That’s not a knock. It’s an observation. The culture is now in their hands.
@DominicHolder-nn3um4 ай бұрын
This is a great opinion. Have heard barely anybody mention that kids today or young people live in a different world than the 80’s/90’s/2000’s. It sucks because there was a certain rawness in pop culture/Rap in those times. But the downside to those times was the lived reality was a lot harsher than today. Aka the Crack epidemic

We're gonna discuss it, that's how the world works. We're also gonna be upset, because it's dumb to tell us to not feel how we feel about something, when you glazers get to feel how you feel. Difference is, we're not telling you not to rock with Cole, we're just saying we have the right to discuss it and have opinions. It's a weak deflect because you can't handle the discussion right now.
