If you don't aim to the centre, but a bit next to your target, you can start decel at 5sec and when you will slow down enough, you just pull the nose back to the target and you will riding in the blue conveniently. I'm not sure how many seconds I save that way, but more fun to do this and I can have a good excuse for a Loop of Shame! ;)

Built a Conda with all fuel tanks, with full heat sinks and a non engineered system. SCO ran for 4 minutes at 3166C. Fuel rate was a staggering 3698 tons per hour compared with 1.67 tons per hour standard SC. I achieved 464k LS at a wear rate of 22%....

That does mean you managed to die due to cooking yourself, not even running out of fuel. Which theoretically means it would be possible to go farther. You would've still had half fuel reserves left

@@Artemis0713 Nope it wasn't a test to destruction. I wanted other data like integrity loss. Also I didn't synth any heat sinks which was my set limit. So I got the data I needed and had enough fuel to jump to a close system and back again to the station.

Unengineered conda, full fuel tank and heat sink, E modules, A pp. I ran it till ran out of either fuel or sink. Reached 1 million ls in around a few minutes without any significant damage (minor heat damage when i forgot to pop a sink in time). Jumped to another system and back. No loses. The integrity repair costed 200k cr tho....

This is the second week I’ve been delivering samples of green plates to XSF carriers. I tested the new FSD-SCO today and was very disappointed. This device has more negatives, but only one positive. Overheating, excessive fuel consumption, poor directional stability and lack of engineering. My favorite activity in the game is research and I don’t know why I need such an FSD. It's no use to me.

Did combat to help clear some of the alert systems, then decided to do a bit of Titan sampling at Oya itself. Still trying to figure out what went wrong in there. Grabed a good bit of materials, but my Dolphin, Cool Hand Luke, was discovered aomehow by a Scythe. I must say that my new engineered Prismatics certainly did their jobs while i Didi Mao'd right the hell out of there. Not sure how i was detected because i haven't done enough of the Titan play yet. Its all new to me, but a fun new chapter.

so far i can think of 2 uses: a fleet carrier ship used to scout systems quickly (in between carrier jumps)... and a Type 9 to load and unload fleet carriers... and another possibly to 'nitrous' super cruise to titan locations, hopefully avoiding those 6 interdictions

That's the only reason I'd get it. I use my carrier for exploration. Slap one on some medium with a huge fuel tank and quick-scout a system between carrier jumps.

All I needs is the OG FSD. Im not grinding fir a whole new FSD and engineering stuff...its getting redundant. We keep just adding new things that could just be engineered for these effects. One of my early theories, for engineers, was the potential for a hidden engineer that did black market engineering to give you things like thargoid hybrid drives and such not. But no they just keep adding the same components over and over with different effects. Like the Xeno scanner versus the advanced Xeno scanner, or Guardian Gauss vs modified. All they needed to do was open up engineering for these items and/ or new engineering effects.

The engine is fine, for exploring or going to the distant titans, but if it cannot be engineered it will stay in the hold under a ton of dust.

Actually exploring is one of the worst things you could do with this drive, while it's fast in supercruise it's only a class C drive which means your FSD range is way lower then usual so that is not good for explorers at all.

The heat issue isn't much of a problem with the overcharge if you use it ad a way to skip the slow acceleration of the original FSD, so just engage it for a few seconds and disengage before you hitv100% heat

I will try a Dolphin with all fuel tanks and low emission PP plus heatsinks, for in-system activities, also for traders, miners, could be useful to get to bodies stations faster, or just filling up your Fleet Carrier. Nevertheless I hope Sirius will refine this or at least it becomes engineerable later.

You know what would be cool, if the new ships are so efficient at regular supercruise speeds using the new drive, that they can ditch thrusters entirely. And just use some kind of warp gravity thrust at low levels using the new drives. It’d make new ships feel more like alien ships. Just hovering in place with no visible thrusting mechanism. Maybe a subtle thermal effect. Just imagine a very alien yet human looking ship just hovering peacefully using this new technology. It’d be a sick opportunity for the sound team to goose our bumps!

The boost feature in supercruise was a feature we had been discussing in the forums, around the time Odyssey was in alpha... We had discussed about how it should have drawbacks like being hard to handle and burn fuel hungrily. Nice to see they actually noted the idea down!

The new fsd and supercruise features are nifty and a welcome addition to a nearly ten year old game. However I swear to butts and feet, if they think that (as you postulate here) having supercruise boosters available will make pvp "play a bigger role" in powerplay because now you are less likely to be interdicted while you do the same boring propaganda hauling missions, I'm going to scream. Ok maybe I won't scream but I will surely sigh heavily, laden with disappointment, while shaking my head. Do they even have a "pvp guy" on staff at fdev? Something tells me they do not. This patch seems to have broken keybinds + context menus for a lot of people playing on flight sticks, if you're having the issue please contribute to the issue tracker so frontier can fix it quickly. Ive already seen 5 duplicate issues made on the matter on the tracker since this patch release. Its made playing nearly impossible for those with certain flight stick setups.

Seems a bit out of control in steering like the flight assist is off and or interdiction is taking place. Not only that, the ships thermal environment becomes unstable. I dont like Warning Warning, Heat Critical, hull Integerity.....etc. My opinion is either the new module is ready or not. I will continue to cancel out missions that are over 50,000 LS into deep space. Im not tearing up my ship to get a horrible flight experience trying to do missions. I haul cargo for trading and do some exploring. The FSD (SCO) handles very messy. It's Elite Dangerous, not Elite and sloppy. Come on team...Where's those new ships....Also should be able to purchase and modify slot sizes and core modules. Im sure fans long the day to see a custom ship design package from the game developers to create a ship just for you..... for a cost of course. Game needs more custom color / livery options and more ship kit styles. This will put the 40 year old game in its proper high status.

I thought so too, but... In theory you could make it in 34 minutes, but from reading other comments, it looks like your ship would overheat and explode long before you got there. Or run out of fuel if you didn't run out of heatsinks first. A guy tried it in an Anaconda full of fuel tanks and heatsinks and only got 1/5 of the way before exploding.

large fuel usage requiring more tanks instead of cargo, it being class C meaning lower range... PvP pirates will start building around it the moment it becomes a problem. Whoever though that it would be nice way to bring players to open play does not understand how things work. If anyone is gonna use it it's gonna be combat ships that for whom default tank is more than enough and don't do jumps anyway.

It is so incredibly rare in the video game world for me to be able to say.... I told you so! I said over and over again in a bunch of Elite videos, in the last year or so, that I think fdev will hopefully listen to the community and not so easily give up on the game. I'm proud to say I was actually right for a change about a game! Seems they are not going to go quietly into the night with no words said. Also this is the second time in the past few months I've been right about games supposedly dying. We had been having pretty much the same conversation about hogwarts legacy. I really didn't have much faith about it not dying too young. I'm not nearly as familiar with it's developers as I am fdev. Hogwarts went and released patches and even new dlc and content!

The new SCO is useless in thargoid space. Thargoids can interdict you whilst in super oc cruise. You cannot avoid the interdict. If they interdict you from normal supercruise, you cannot add the extra boost. Seems it is only designed for human pvp. And your jump range has been cut to nearly beginner Sidewinder distance. That was using a 5c in both a Python and Challenger

So I would need to sacrifice storage space AND jump range on my cargo ships just to have better change to escape from players that will probably soon start doing the same the moment it becomes a problem? No thanks. I don't play this game for PvP, and I'm not gonna start building ships specifically with that in mind just to increase population density in open. While your idea is as defence strategy, I believe it's gonna end up being the opposite with ships that already know how to run hot, and don't care about fuel or jump range, namely combat ships that stay in system.

two minutes thirty five minutes - FDEV told players how to play the game. Players said no this is faster. I wonder what's next in the video? FDEV - Please don't spoil the content by playing it too quickly because there really isn't that much there. Players - ohhh look Warframe and Sims 4 are free to play.

indeed, it's like smaller repeat of carriers. yoah they technically make sense, but usage is very limited (so far only usage I had for carriers was to go to one that sold commodities exclusive to Odyssey) I just like shooting pirates in VR. it doesn't pay that great but it's fun, and I had the reason to engineer every component of my ship.

This new super cruise mode and FSD is absolutely garbage, useless. Using it is almost a self destruct assurance, or in best case scenario a plead to be stranded without fuel. What's the point of it when you must load your ship with extra fuel tanks and heatsinks, leaving no space for useful modules, and yet can only use it once for a few seconds ? FDEV, please!!! At this stage in the game, 10 years on and you still pushing your players away? I am deeply disappointed!

I was using it farm HGE's quickly and efficiently across huge distances for hours yesterday without refueling... But yeah, sure. Whatever :)

The new FSD basically overheats your ship to critical to save you time in Supercruise. It uses fuel at a crazy rate. When you arrive, assume your ship will be damaged at least 30% hull integrity and several modules will be damaged/destroyed. So there may be a corner case for this in game play. MAYBE. But it's a hard pass for most. I really don't think this was a thing players wanted from FDev and they wasted resources for something the community wasn't asking for. Typical FDev SOP.

Nah mate, All you do is a quick boost and then turn it off. Helpful for when you need to make it a distance greater than a thousand Ls.

That really wasn't my experience with the overcharge at all. You use it for a short burst, don't leave it on. I thought it was quite cool and very funny. While it looks like it has a niche application right now, I think it will have its place in dodging interdictions in PvP, and hopefullythat has a place in PowerPlay 2.0.

Just use heat sink bro. Covered multiple 100 kls without damage with heat sink- Fuel is problem though, but if you just want to go to some 10 kls it is fine with short boost.
