I remember 6abc in Philly tried to change it in the early 2000s, and so many pissed off people called the station that they changed it back.

It was in 1996 and yes, it was a hot mess 😂😂. They changed it back in 3 days 😂. Philadelphians spoke and they listened!

In NYC, this was WPIX-TV Channel 11 (aka "11 Alive") Action News theme during the 1970s which evolved into the Independent Network News (aka "INN") in the 1980s. More recently, it's Kaity Tong's domain.

Philly went bats in 1995 when WPVI-TV altered the theme. The rearranged theme lasted just 5 days. It would probably kill the ratings.

Jim Gardner actually started in Buffalo at WKBW and they were using the theme then. He was noon anchor.
