😕 At those prices, #Xtransbots Menasor (with the accessory kit) would be coming WAAAY TOO CLOSE to Fans Toys all-in cost. #Xtransbots better be careful. It seems like what we're seeing with these three different brands is a classic example of three different buying audiences: (1) luxury buyers (Fans Toys), (2) mid-price buyers (#X-Transbots), and (3) bargain buyers (DX9). And I'm not saying that that means anyone's brand preference is inferior to another. I think it just might help explain why these three companies are so dominant right now in the 3rd-party arena. To the point of some commentors here, #Xtransbots better be careful treading into Fans Toys territory, if that's not what their usual customers are looking for from them.

And I know everyone has a pref. The wholes XTB price increase just tweaked me. I was in on the XTB Locke. And to release it at 30 dollars more than the third release price of Koot, they are just out of their minds. And I also had a Dr. Egg on pre-order... But man, I am not paying that for a 9 inch ok looking essentially a statue with a few low grade electronics... Then I saw your video. And just caught me already pissed with XTB. haha

@@jayvierra8672 No worries, Jay. Thanks for saying so, though. I'm no brand-loyalist. I go where the look, feel, and price of the character and my curiosity take me. I love my #FansToys Phoenix! That thing looks like what the cartoonists for the original TV show might have been basing their Jetfire character design on (instead of the other way around). You know what I mean? And I chose Fans Toys Quietus as my Cyclonus, because it looked like the best option for MY collection. Any frustration I have with Fans Toys now comes from how "toon-accurate" they're making them (but that's the trend anyway). My taste is different than what Fans Toys is making now. But I TOTALLY hear you about Dr. Egg not being worth $175!!! Whatever XTB's reason was for making that thing overly-complicated and high-priced, I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if that, the Menasor Trailer and accessory kit, and Locke set #XTransbots back with the fan community for a while.

DX9 is my choice. But the pricing you are using from TFSource is the aftermarket type pricing. I have the preoder for dragstrip right now for 119. I got the wildrider for 110 and the white one for 110. From TF source. So be fair. That is not what FT cost if you bought it on the preorder and not the aftermarket limited availability type prices.

Awesome. Everybody should go with what they like. I wasn't trying to be unfair; the pricing I used from TFSource is an accidental mix of retail and aftermarket; I'll be more careful. Thanks to @michael mills for showing me that mistake. And I'm not trying to convince anyone that they need to got with XTB; it just happens to be what I went in on, and the trailer cost ticked me off, too.

Great video!! But I think Dx9 is 1st. The Dragstrip is already out. It was already out on Toydojo. We don't even know how much the Fanstoys is going to be at this point. Not to mention there all Sold Out everywhere. If you missed out on the Fanstoys Pre-orders, it's a wrap. To be honest imo that accessory kit is a must have to complete the Menasor. I agree Xtransbots over do it sometimes. Especially with the trailer Battle mode and the all the Gimmicks on the Dr. Egg. They look Fantastic! But you have to buy at least Quintesons. So your looking at over $400. Imo, that Havoc is not even an option. Specially if you have a toyworld constructor, or Zeta toys Kronos or Armageddon. Xtransbots looks absolutely fantastic, but they should of included that accessory pack with the trailer. Great video!!

@@mp_reviews no, I agree with everything you said. The Xtransbots Menasor looks absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately we just gonna have to bite the bullet this time around. I think it would of been not that bad if they included the Accessory pack with the trailer. That Fanstoys to be honest might be close to $900. We don't know how much the actual frame may cost, especially when you think of Fanstoys. There figures are solid and heavy because of the Diecast. So those Joints are going to have to be Rock Solid, if not...his not gonna be able to hold the weight or he maybe Topling over..we just don't know? ..But if there was ever a company that could pull it off ...its definitely Fanstoys.

Fan’s Toys Motormaster did not come with any combiner pieces, accessories or instructions on combining; All that will probably be released with or after deadends release.

So I think why people are so upset is because DX9 released motormaster with the trailer/combing parts for 180, fanstoys is releasing their combined parts with a limb bot for 220, and finally XTB is releasing only the trailer/combing parts for 225. So I just don’t get why xtb’s trailer/combing parts is so expensive compared to everyone else

That would be a good reason to be upset. I don't know why the XTB trailer is so expensive, but I do know that I didn't need that trailer base mode. 👎 If having that was a major reason for the price, #Xtransbots shoulda left it out. 😑

I'm surprised you didn't say anything about the actual size of the bots. You can say their "MP" scale but I think many would say the limb bots for XTB are a bit small. It's also believed that the XTB combine mode will also be shorter as well. So even though the prices are that far off the sizes are thus the lower prices for the limbs of XTB.

LOL, true. I might be surprised once I open them! 😁 I don't know yet what "MP-scale" means for the #XTransbots Stunticons. But the information I was able to find on combiner sizes was about 19.5"/50 cm for DX9 and about 19"/49 cm for XTB. Strangely, I couldn't find an approximate height for Fans Toys. But the two limb bots in XTB's combined mode do look small on Menasor's arms in comparison to the 1980's G1 cartoon and both the renders I found for DX9 and Fans Toys. That's why XTB added those fake car parts to the accessory kit they're selling in addition to the trailer.

It's a tricky bit making the cost comparisons since prices can go up after the initial releases of each bot. However, I have recalculated prices based on those I found at ex.tfs-express.com , and DX9 still comes out as the most affordable option (see the updated video description).😁

North American retailers tagged on the extra cash for the trailer because this trailer is: 1) a bit heavy 2) shipping costs The actual price is $200 for the trailer like at Show Z Store! Dr. Egg is that price because it's mostly die-cast and packed with electronics and motors!

Hey, thanks for watching! I don't know the news about DX9. Is that the rumor? I hope 2021 isn't slow. There's so much that can still be done. I hope this XTB trailer/accessory mess doesn't slow #Xtransbots down in releasing the other Quintesson characters after Dr. Egg. But they could simplify what they offer (motorized? really?). For display, I've got a bunch of #IkeaDetolfs, and I've got a #Moducase on order that's supposed to be here this month! Can't wait for that.

Hi, just fyi for anyone not in the know. But, the FansToys first release prices were lower than claimed in this video. They go as follows: FT Breakdown $100 USD; FT Motormaster $165/175 USD; FT Wildrider $110 USD; FT Dragstrip $125 USD; FT Dead End price unannounced. But rumor is, that FT Dead End will be coming with the combiner parts, and supposedly be around the same price as their Motormaster. So far that's $510 USD for the FT set, and possibly $685 to $785 USD when all is said and done. XTB full combiner is about $705/710 USD, that's including the accessories pack XTB said would come with the trailor at no extra charge (now untrue,) and may be necessary for a better combined mode. We're looking at maybe $25 less to just a poultry $80 more for the FT Menasor. And to be clear I started collecting from both companies, and the FT version is better quality for my money. But, it's okay if you disagree about who's is better; I just think people should be aware of more accurate information.

There is merit to what your saying though; for someone who wants in on these figures now, the after market prices have increased significantly. So, thoughtful consideration should be that persons frame of mind when choosing. I'm not going to say what someone should buy because it really depends on there preferences, whether it be price, fandom, quality, etc. I just like it when people can get what they truly want while knowing they made a well informed decision before hand.

I am aware that you can get collectables cheaper by going with overseas sellers too. But I'm specifically siting American pricing.

I thing I hate about the Stunticon/Menasor 3rd party figures is that they treat the limbs as plug-ons to already-existing limbs of Menasor and not full limbs. Say what you will about Combiner Wars, but it did give the limbs of Menasor the distinction of being ACTUAL limbs and not just "addons."

As for new figures are they really expecting to buy a Kup from them that is more expensive than Fantoys one? We all know the quality won't be comparable with that

I didn't realize XTB's Kup was that much more expensive that Fans Toys' Kup, but price can also be a result of where and when. I just found prices on Fans Toys Kup ranging from $100 to $200.

I use ShowZ as reference, their Hoist used to cost 86$ years ago, now they are selling it at 130, their Scourge and sweeps trio used to cost 294$ and now costs 399$. A big price increase for figures who are also pretty old. Plus asking 179$ for a non-transforming Quintesson is also pretty outrageous, it's just an egg with faces, they tryed to justify it with lights and motorization pretty much no one cares for.

So you bring up an interesting topic: should the pre-order price be the price which is considered the original retail price, or should the price the item is when it is officially released be considered the original retail price? Given what you're saying about the price adjustments going up with e-tailers as time goes on, it might be difficult to figure out what the "original retail price" was for an item. This is easier to do with official Hasbro/Takara (and any other official brand sold at U.S. retailers), because they provide that price to the retailers, and it would be bad business for companies to have volatile prices on things. What are your thoughts? What should we as Fans consider the original retail price?

If people had a better idea in the beginning that it might only cost 45 more to get FT, I bet xbt would have lost a lot of sales. I have all xtb stunticons by the way. I think the trailor for dx9 being longer is a minor point because most people will combine it. And you made the point for a lot of mad people the the xtb trailer cost the same for the motor master and trailer for dx9.

Yeah, I think all companies are going to need to do better in how they communicate what the ultimate cost might be, like start with the most expensive piece, or just offer it as a box set from the beginning. The DX9 trailer length is just a detail that led to me choosing #Xtransbots, as I like my bots to look fairly realistic in their alt modes. I'm glad I could call out XTB for collectors on the cost of their trailer compared to DX9's Motormaster which CAME WITH THE TRAILER FOR THE SAME PRICE! 🙂✌️

First comment of XTB being the first is wrong. DX9 is first and cheapest at a total preorder not secondary cost of $450.00. This is inline with Zeta Combiner.

I wasn't trying to mislead anyone, just trying to show that people who bought XTB weren't as bad off as it might seem, though I definitely don't agree with the trailer price and don't really like the fact that you have to buy an additional accessory pack to get extra Menasor and Motormaster faces.

Yeah, your FT pricing is based on the secondary releases. For those of us who were able to purchase the items for retail, the pricing was much lower. The original retail for these figures was $199.99 for Roadking. Spoiler was $104.99. Magnum was $114.99 which was raised $10 due to Covid and Shipping increases. It's original price was $104.99 like Spoiler. Then we have Smokey which is $129.99, which we should receive soon. These are all based on my paid-for pricing. Current estimates have the last figure, which will contain the remaining parts needed to complete their combiner, at around the $199.99 mark. So its $750.00 for the FT version. As for XT, I'm showing XT at $715 w/ their Trailer and Accessories pack.

@@mp_reviews Yeah I get that... When it comes to these releases, I always go back to the beginning. During those initial releases it was said that XT was going to be the budget friendly version with Dx-9 coming in the middle, then FT being the most expensive. And, even more recently they said all those added pieces were to be included w/ the trailer package. So they really messed things up with this release, which is unfortunate. But, after seeing Ben's video, I have some major concerns w/ their trailer. For me personally, I like the added details found in their release, more than the Dx-9 version. But, I prefer the proportions, stability and size of the Dx-9 option more than the XT version. XT's smaller size and weird proportions are big issues for me. So, now it's up to FT... I'm really hoping FT can give us the added details like the XT option with the size, proportions and stability of the Dx-9 release... So my fingers remain crossed.

I'm probably late but, FT is including all combined parts with last bot. I'm in for both FT and XTB. I'm pissed at the XTB situation but still waiting for the trailer to get here lol. I think the price outrage for me is the quality aspect. XTB makes great figures but never been up to the quality of FT. They kind of "skipping the line" I'll pay the FT price because I know what I'm getting. I may be out on future XTB products. Just did a review on the Transform mission set.

Also I've received good criticism from folks in the comments here about the prices I quoted not being accurate for Fans Toys, but I'm almost to the finish line with #Xtransbots Menasor myself, and I still wouldn't want DX9, and I don't want to got through the likely hassle and expense of getting Fans Toys bots at this point.

It does seem like DX9 packaged things right in comparison to both #Xtransbots and #FansToys. I mean, if XTB had sold their Motormaster with his trailer ('cuz, let's be honest, that IS the complete character) that price would be at least $300 with PRE-ORDER prices (Trailer - $169 @ ohmyprimus.com ; Motormaster - $130 @ TFSource). Your outrage is still justified. They pulled the bait and switch at the end, and their quality is just not that good. Pulling people in with a affordable price and then getting it all out of you in the back end without forewarning. Kieth sold the first ones cheap to shake off a KO company. There is no justification to then turn around and pay your customers back by supporting you by punishing us. I am out for not just combining this set but I am out from purchasing XTB. This is just not a good way to build loyalty in your fan base. I wish I would have gone in on the DX9 as my second set (first set is FTs). Maybe DX9 will put out an all in one set. Thanks for being a part of the discussion. 🙏👍 Yeah, I'm definitely not happy with the over-engineering and price of that trailer. But I'm not convinced their intent was bad, or if they just hadn't planned well-enough to deal with the competitive race between them, DX9, and FansToys along with the impact of the worldwide pandemic (which has affected shipping prices and manufacturing globally). I think COVID-19 should be taken into account when comparing #XTB 's previous prices with their newer ones. However, I'm not saying that they didn't raise their prices a little further than needed; they could have decided to try to shift their brand perception into a higher-end product than they've been seen as in the past by raising prices; if this is the case, it's obviously backfiring. However, the G1 MP-scale products they've been teasing over the past 1-2 years have all grabbed my attention (Dr. Egg, Autobot X, Locke, and most-recently the Quintesson Prosecutor), and I do prefer their style to the more boxy and, generally, more plain look of #FansToys 's recent "toon-accurate" releases and teases.

@@mp_reviews, that's fair. It just feel disingenuous to load the back end so heavily, especially when it raises the combiner price over DX9s. Their quality is just not high enough for me to justify that price. I can, right now, on EBay, order all the entire DX9 combiner for about $525, and it does not need an add on kit. I was mostly in on XTB because I respected the place Kieth was in and his response to it. I would have even been fine if he would have raised the individual bots as they came out, but if they came with FTs pricing, I would have been out. I don't like their aesthetic more then FTs, and definitely find the quality to be quite a bit less. I also was out on Dr Egg. I don't "play" with my figures, so I don't need all the electronics. I could not justify the price on that figure either. I don't believe they had bad intentions, just bad business decisions that they are getting their fans to more then pay for. It is not their customers fault they designed their combiner too small. Toy Worlds Devy was already out their to set the scale. It was their bad decision to make it too small, thus requiring them to redesign it. Good discussion though.

Fans Toys prices for X-Transbots would definitely make me think twice. I actually hadn't known that the KO issue was why the limb bot prices were so low. That's amazing. Without that knowledge, the trailer price and the accessory kit can definitely look like a greedy cash grab, basically seeming like XTB was holding the final combined version for ransom. I'm with you, though; I don't suspect that their intentions for us as customers were bad. 🙂

xtb cost is a combination of bad business decisions i.e. redesigning the height to be in scale with zeta and underpricing the first bots to stop them from being ko'ed. transformission combined mode is iffy at best. the ankles are very cool engineering but not functional at all. sidenote dx9 is the first to finish. their dragstrip is shipping now. great video

Just to let you know a few things, Fans Toys' last bot release will include all of the torso and accessories to make-up the Menasor combiner. This was confirmed by Fans Toys themselves just under a year ago. It is projected that their Bandit (Dead End) will be of a similar price point as their Roadking. I don't think there is any more accessories for DX9's Menasor. Their remaining Dragstrip completes the set. There is a video from China that shows the full set and combined. I enjoy free willing and ad libing though myself, but the nervous tick is a thing, you see like pro announcers do it as well, A LOT. But over time we can fix it. I shopped with show.z and paid 160 for motor master. 80 for wildrider and breakdown. And 90 for dragstrip and dead-end. So I paid around 500 hundred for the set. And motormaster used to be a double trailer so the long trailer doesn't bother to much. And they have the xtransbot trailer for 200 if you wanna save 30 dollars. They shipping will take a while though.

I was in on the X-Transbots because it was less expensive than the others. All told, Motormaster is over $400. I think the 'outrage' is that we were all expecting it to be cheaper overall. I got the first figure for $39.99 when it came out, then they slowly increased the prices, until Motormaster was over ten times the cost of the first one I bought. Plus, on their facebook page they said the accessories were included with the trailer, and now they are not. When these companies put out figures one at a time, we are all taking a huge risk that they will still be around to complete the set, which could be years away. And we pray that the next bot that comes out will at least be similar in price to the ones we've already bought. We have to trust that they will not gouge us, and for the most part, they have not, until now. They are coming out with a Defensor, and I am hesitant to invest now. It's not like we can wait and see what happens, because if we don't buy in the beginning, it may be too late by the time the last one comes out to get the first. It is structured to get you hooked, then it's too late to stop, or you've invested for nothing, and can only hope you can resell without a loss, if you want out out.

Agreed; the outrage I felt was from feeling like I had been bait-and-switched. 🎣 The prices were fine until then. If the trailer had come with the accessories and had cost $200, that still probably would've stung a little, but it would've been A LOT easier to swallow. Going back on their word about the accessories being a part of the trailer purchase was definitely a mis-step and something they shouldn't EVER promise lightly about again if they want to retain loyal customers. I agree that we have had to be trusting of these companies to deliver and NOT to gouge us. Us fans take a big risk in committing to a Combiner lineup which could die before it's completed. I hope this is a #3rdpartymasterpiecescale lesson for every company in the industry, and I hope third-party companies can afford to develop their entire lineup upfront so there aren't these kind of broken promises and unpleasant surprises. Price hikes due to events outside of a company's control like a worldwide pandemic or a sudden shortage of materials are things we can't really blame a company for (within reason), but #XTB needs to take a hard look at themselves and their high prices for needlessly complex products (e.g., the trailer and their Quintesson Judge, Dr. Egg). 😕

We will see I know for a fact I will not preorder this and wait for the release to see what the community thinks about this product. @@mp_reviews I got Motormaster from showzstore for $112 by preordering when it first became available...one of my tricks is...if you think that your gonna be interested in purchasing a figure from showzstore preorder it as soon as it’s available because they always give you the lowest price that it was ever marked at on their site and you get it for that price even if the price starts to increase on their site, your locked in for the lowest price...also you can always cancel your preorder and turn your deposit into store credit if you end up changing your mind...it’s just that you have to cancel your order before then balance is due or else you lose your deposit if you change your mind on buying it.

So FansToys is the ultimate choice just for paint, sculpt, and quality. That comes at a higher price. Xtransbots did say to fans that all the accessories were going to be included with their redesigned trailer. So it’s a cash grab by Xtransbots. FansToys Motormaster only came with a gun, sword, and an extra face. All combiner parts are coming with their Dead End. Xtransbots quality is far lower to FansToys. They were a cheaper option, for fans, and they asked us to purchase them to prevent them from getting Ko’ed. It’s tough to compare two different companies with the same figures. We third party fans like quality. We pay more for it. This was a bad move for Xtransbots, and I won’t be getting their Protectobots over this hike in costs.

Hey John, so it sounds like you like(d) both #FansToys and #XTransbots up to this point? Me, too. 👍 I go where the look, feel, and price of the character and my curiosity take me. I love my #FansToys Phoenix! That thing looks like what the cartoonists for the original TV show might have been basing their Jetfire character design on (instead of the other way around). And I chose Fans Toys Quietus as my Cyclonus, because it looked like the best option for MY collection. Any frustration I have with Fans Toys now comes from how "toon-accurate" they're making them (but that's the trend anyway). My taste is simply different than what Fans Toys is making now. Though XTB's trailer debacle initially felt like a cash grab to me, too, I'm not convinced that XTB intended to do us dirty like that. Going back on their word about the accessories being a part of the trailer purchase was definitely a mis-step and something they shouldn't EVER promise lightly about again if they want to retain loyal customers. But I wonder if they simply backed themselves into a corner with the design of Menasor altogether (the arm bots in combined mode DO look small compared to the animation model, which pretty much necessitated offering those car shells in the "accessory" kit to make the bots look bigger) and with the low price points for the limb bots. XTB's Menasor would've been fine without the car shells in the accessory kit, but it seems like their plan for executing changed mid-course. I don't think it was an intentional greedy cash grab as much as it was desperation to remain relevant and profitable in the "toon-aesthetic" market. After all, profits are the only reason they can continue to give us new products. 😁💸 Not that that changes the initial gut-punch feel of the costs of #Xtransbots MX-XIIB Menasor Trailer and MX-XIIC Accessory Kit.

Agabyss is a great route to run, plus when Fanstoys MM came out I payed $170 for it, and when Fanstoys Breakdown and Wildrider came out I payed $100 a piece for those, so a drop right there taking account for what prices were before trump and his hate for china. Bencollectibles has Monolith the add -on is mainly for the X-transbots toy version . So not required unless you want it. Fanstoys you will need to buy a seperate trailer according from Tman was reading from the owner of FansToys so it will be 800.00 + would be realistic .

The price is completely outrageous! First off there is no comparison between FT and xtb. I purchased the xtb bots because of a great balance between price and quality. I am happy with my purchases and don't regret making them. BUUT, I cannot support xtb in selling the trailer at that crazy price nor can I justify buying a separate accessory set which adds to the cost. If they were to have spread the cost between the set it would have probably been more palatable for some people. However, by increasing the price per bot this would have priced them closer to the other sets; and personally I would have purchaesd FT or DX9 instead.

In your video you forgot to tell the people that the FT figures yeah they are more expensive but they are also bigger than xtransbot and some people are having a lot of qc problems with their xtransbot stunticons. Motormaster doesn't come with anything just trailer. Fanstoys r expensive but u get ur $$s worth im in on all of them. U should check Showzstore and Toydojo they r way cheaper than Tfsource. Well, at least there were options between DX9, Fans Toys, and X-Transbots. Not the best foot forward from XTB for sure, though.
